Lack of grease inside the gear section of the motor is the problem, the nylon gear will be worn & as it's a sealed unit it's not repairable, I've tried . Fit a complete unit with linkage from an MB/C or MG ZS if you can find one . Stewart .1 point

Could be the brushes in the motor itself have worn down, don't think it sounds like the linkages.1 point
