  1. Alright everyone,

Quick question, are the head bolts on D series engines stretch bolts? I assumed they were, but was getting a price from my local motor factors and their supplier doesn't sell them for my engine, which according to them only happens when the standard bolts do not stretch. Therefore you can reuse them. My local also said that's probably why they are so expensive from Honda (due to not being a high demand part)

Before I go and replace my headgasket and use my original head studs I wanted a second opinion, my local motor factors aren't the usual useless tw*ts, good couple of old boys who certainly know what they're talking about.

    Thanks in advance.

  2. Ah you're the fella that added me on facebook, don't normally accept strangers but you had a picture of the Civic so stranger danger wasn't an issue haha. I'm the one who's picture's my black MB. Car is looking good, you've certainly had a few Fords over time haven't ya mate :D

    What's next?

  3. Sorry, not really being clear, Kyekye's is D16 so a similar weight to your D15, take a look at his thread to see how it sits. :)

Ah okay, I'll check it out now. Atleast if they were say, too stiff for the D15 I'd be able to sell them on :)

    Thanks.

  4. Only reason I don't fancy getting 4024-140s is because I have a D series, I think B18s weigh a good bit more than the D15, so I was guessing this could affect it? Anyone know the exact weight of an MB6 compared to my MB3?

    Cheers man!

  5. dont damadge them incase you need to send them back

Yeah I'll definately be checking the part number before I try and put them on anything! I'm guessing they have the part number printed on the spring?

  6. The numbers on my Eibach Springs are 4015-002

The seller gave me EK/EJ springs, bare in mind the front will be cool but the rear will drop down like it did on mine

Hence Ive got front Eibach with standard shocks and MG ZS 180 rear shocks and springs

Progressive front and Linear rear lol sounded risky at first, but it handles so well

    Alright mate,

Yeah I plan on getting the specific MB3 ones, put them on the MG shocks and it should, key word being should, sit perfectly for me :)

All depends on what works for you really, same with tyres, some people will hate certain set ups, but on your car it may work :)

  7. kyekye09 has 4024-140 on the mgzs180 dampers i think btw  around £190-200

Yeah they seem to be a bit more expensive than the EJ / EK springs. I will be going for the proper ones for my MB3 :)

    Thanks.

  8. Alright everyone,

As title states, is there an average amount of thou that is taken off a cylinder head when you get it skimmed? My headgasket has gone and will be getting my head skimmed when I do it. I don't want too much to be skimmed off as it will only lead to more problems, higher compression, higher stress on engine internals etc.

I'm guessing if your headgasket is well gone you'd probably have a more warped head than you would if it was blowing very slightly? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Just want a rough figure of thou that I should be taking off so I can price the job up (the company prices by the amount that's skimmed)

    Thanks in advance.

  9. Pretty sure all the same mate, Rob (kyekye09) has them on his mc1, Yaseen on his mb4, sure there are others too.

Make sure you get the right springs though, MB3 Eibach code is 4019-140.

    Alright cheers man!

Yeah thats the key to it, I thought 1.4 / 1.5 were 4020-140? I was going to have 'shamz' off him because he got sent 4020-140 instead of the MB6 ones.

    Thanks again.

  10. Alright everyone,

Yet another suspension topic I'm afraid :D Basically are the shocks on my MB3 the same fitment as the MB6 ones? Reason for asking is I am after a set of MG ZS 180 Shocks to fit the Eibach pro springs for the MB3 too.

But don't want to find out the forks or something are different.

Thanks in advance for the help, don't know what I'd do without this forum :)

  11. You have got MG shocks on the front as well right?

    harVTEC

    harVTEC its you!!! lol

Naa dude, standard shocks on Eibach at the front atm, still need to source some for up front...

TBH quite happy with the standard ones on the front, dont want it any lower than that, very practical for me at that height can comfortably go over anything car park ramps, speed bumps etc

It's me haha :) I was thinking could it not be due to that? Obviously the MG shocks lower about 15-20mm, so adding your springs would mean the back would be dropped 50mm while the front would only be dropped 30mm. That, with your 17s would make the back look seriously low.

Glad you got it sorted now though, if it's not the wrong Eibach springs I reckon it's because of standard front shocks.

  12. Brilliant mate, thank you :)

Did you use a machine polisher or apply it by hand mate? The Meguiars clay kit is brilliant, treated my Dad's DC5 to a good clay session with it last year and really enjoyed using it, The Autoglym clay bar kit is also very good!

  13. Lovely VTi-S mate, really like the progress, how they should have looked from the factory. I know you've said you're running MG ZS shocks and Eibach springs, what ones are they MG ZS180 and Eibach Pro Kit springs? Really like the level of drop.

If you can help it would be most appreciated :)

Ultimate Compound's great stuff isn't it?
