  1. Listen guys, more than 10 years i drove dad's car on summer or allseason tires during winter, but thats horible comparing to any winter tire. So what you speak is totaly normal behavior of road tire on ice or snow. Winter tire make huge difference (try one and you want believe what you see and feel :-)). Comparing to any summer tire, my car now is bulldozer :-), but comparing to other cars with another tires, situation is not good. As malefix, i dont have trouble to direct and steer the car, i dont have problems with breaking... Only moving straight forward.

  2. Yes, i know that many of you from UK cannot say anything, because lack of snow (i saw many funny videos from some of last winters :D), but i hope that some frined from scandinavia, or some other northern lands can say something.

Generaly, this car is a good gripper, but snow and ice are surfaces for themself

The profiles shouldn't make a difference as you stayed with the 195 which is the width.

On snow generaly narrower tire is slicing snow better, but for ice theres no big difference. Tire profile isnt changing nothing but torque moment, because of rod lenght (tire diameter), so smaller diameter, higher torque. Higher torque = easier lost of grip ;)

Would love to see some pictures!

    Would this do the job?

From last winter. Me and GF went for ski day.

Today we have 10-15cm of snow, but it is wet and it's melting quickli :(, so it's not worth of picturing.

  3. Hi guys. New winter came, new snow, everything is white and i am happy like a child. But new snow allso means new driving problems.

I apsolutely adore snow. I love skiing, i love ice skating, snowballing, and allso love to drive any sort of transportation on snow. Before Honda i drove 200sx s14 which was totaly fun, but with rwd+lsd even with winter tires it got stucked on any small obstacle, and it was very annoying.

Finaly, the time has came to change the car, and i hoped that new B18 FWD LSD car with new winter tires will be as close as possible to some AWD, and i will have great snow mobility.

And then, unpleasant surprise. Car simply refuse to move forward. THO, it is much better then Nissan (at last it is fwd car), but not even close to what i hopped that it will be, and what i saw on others normal FWD cars. Skodas, KIA's, brothers Civic EP2, Dacias, Audis,  gf's Opel Astra..... All of them are going totaly good, no metter if it is cheaper or high class tire, and my deck keep stucking on funny and stupid places.

On hard pressed snow  (allmost ice), even on 1-2 degree slope i wasnt able to move. In deaper snow on steaper slopes, driving on other cars tracks i cannot climb the hill or simmliar situation.

On the other side, in rewerse car moves dramticaly better, but again worse than other cars. Breaking is good, steering is good, but moving forward drives me mad.

Car have mounted Sava Eskimo HP ( from High Performance) 195/50 R15. Tire is realy good on dry winter tarmac, even on wet surface.

    Sava-ESKIMO-HP-salog.jpg

    Potential causes:

    - Bad tire choice - can be the problem, but some people just love them and they buying them over and over again

    - Bad tire size choice - because of the big price difference, i bought 195/50 instead of 195/55

    - Torsen LSD - 2 wheels instantly start to spin and make ice underneath them

    - Too much power or rews - also problem with making slipery surface on clutch release ( but i am confused why car stops on hill when the it was grabbing forward), but i know hot to drive on snow and how much gas is needed

    - Too much weight - but i know that lighter nad heavier cars doing better snow performance, on any winter tire

    - Too much weight on the rear axle - light front end pulls heavy rear

    - Combined causes :)

Please all of You MB6/MC2 owners, share your opinions and expiriences so i can know what to do next, because i need to make new tire choice, and i would like that my car finaly goes as best as its possible.

  4. Sorry for incomplete profile data. I am from UK, i can only shop here :(.

So, as i can understand, you do not recomend 1.4/1.6 muffler. Speaking of MB muffler, i know that it has shorter tailpipe, but are the mountings and inlet pipe the same (because i have one MB6 for spare parts)?

Do you think that copy of Vibrant Flat Back (free floow) or Twin Loop will be loud?

  5. My rear muffler has became very annoying fart can, so it need to be replaced, but i am not interested in mounting the loud free floow replacement. Allso it is allmost imposible to find used MC2 muffler.

    My questions are :)

Is there some not so loud free flow muffler?

What are diferences between MB6 and MC2 muffler?

Will i lose power if i mount muffler from some 1.4 or 1.6 Civic?

I have decat and larger front muffler

  6. We all drive old b18 engines, and it is normaly that engines lose some power or rev happynes over the years of exploitation.

Who has enough time and money can rebuild engine from the zero, but for the rest of us there are lot of things that can be done to refresh engine work and power delivery.

So, i am starting this topic to discuss what can cause power loss (beside engine itself), and what can be easily or not so easily :) done on the car, like valve clearance, manifold cleaning, spark change, ground cables change, solenoids cleaning....... and make engine breathe, rev and work as good as possible. I know that all of this exist on the board, but i think that every opinion and manual should be at one place.

If admins think that topic is stupid, delete it freely :)

  7. The only M that came with rear ones s standard are the MB6. I think all other had front ones though...

Fair enough :D. It is important that it have front one which is hard to mount, and rear we will buy from rover 416 for les than 10 euros.

Will car reduce swinging at all? My MC2 become very neutral with MG arb, but i dont know how this MB1 behave with softer arb.

  8. Does first generation with D16 engine have front or rear anti roll bar? Friend owns it, and he is thinking about buying rover 416 rear arb.

And will he fill any improvement, because this ARB is softer than MG ZS's one

  9. i allso think that is just spring comeback to original position, especially because this is an mg spring, but i needed to hear does someone have same noise

Thank you guys for help. If someone allso have this minor problem, please write it, just for statistics

  10. Neither of that.

It happends while wheell turn lef or right i think because of weight shiftig or shock rotating in corners, and it sounds something like clooong, you know how tensioned spring can sound when it rotate.

  11. About year ago i have mounted ZS shock/springs set with mg rear arb, and even today i am trhrilled how drivable the car is.

But, few months ago (maby because of winter temperatures) springs starded to make sounds. I cannot remember well now, but i think that in most situations front spring make sound. For example in roundabouts with wavy surface, or in some similar situations, different spring make something like cling sount, like it move for a little or drop into its place.

Does someone have this odd illnes? :)

Maby its because of the lightness of B18 engine comparing to MG's v6 spring turn or move for a little, but if you think that is some bigger problem, please doo tell.

  12. Probably because of some colision front bumper is i think from some lower version of civic 5, but i allso like these subaru rally look fogs :). I have original VTi ones, but i will consider which i will left on the car.

Yes, theres something wrong with rear bumper. My drunk friend with Fiat Punto is wrong :). A**hole didnt noticed that i stopped in front of HIS building :D. But that, and some more cosmetic details should be repaired when i move to the house this year where i would have garage and backyard so i can play with car. Now i live in building, and i dont like to do those stuff on the street. I need to paint and mount VTi front lip, to paint left mirror, to correct right skirt, rear bumper, to clean headlights, to correct and paint some small dents on the rear of the car....

  13. Some of you know that i am an old member which never introduced his car, but all what he ever wroted was problems and cries for solutions :). Reason for that was partly laziness, partly dissatisfaction of the look of the stock car with scratched stock rims.

But things have suddenly changed yesterday :), so introduction day has come

This is the day after i drove car

    madeinjapanresized.jpg

from left to right my deck, brothers Civic EP2, and my (now ex :( ) 200sx s14

Allso one pic of not even a stock car, thanx to previous owner :)

Car even today has no many modes, but first of them was LPG system, which i still drive without any big problems

next mod, BIIIIIG thanx to all of you guys, was MG ZS V6 suspension

    IMAG0107.jpg

the visual result was more than obvious (sorry for dirty car ;))

    IMAG0123.jpg

    IMAG0131.jpg

driving transformation still make me smiling :D

Because standard lack of money (country i live in :( ), beside regular maintance nothing big was not done on car.

For a loooong long period i was in quest for a decent wheel which i would proudly mount on a hubs. But lousy market offer of 4x114 16x7 et40+ forced me to drive winter tyres during whole 2012 year. I even bought AZEV A 4x114 16x7,5 ET40 wheels which was only first aid kit because they are too wide.

    IMAG0104.jpg

BUT :), some beautifull mondey morning on my workplace (yesterday :D) finaly god answered my prayers :)

My birthday came much earlier this year :D
