  1. Ignore me I've answered my own question. Anyone else experiencing the same problem look under the dash to the left of the clutch pedal there is a cable operated blower distribution module jobbie that leads back to the heater knobs. Upon manually fiddling with it the flaps are still operational but the switch doesn't move so the cable has indeed disconnected from said switch. Problem solved.
  2. This question has been asked before but the I can't open the link to the thread All air from the blowers comes from my dash vents, if I turn the heater channel knob to windscreen or feet I get nothing. The knob feels quite free to turn and has little to no resistance which makes me think that the cable could be slack (is it cable operated?) Any thoughts?
  3. Anyone who has the problem in future, take NIKH25's advice, gutter trims out, cleaned, and then silicone the hell out of them Hello dry carpet department Jack speaking
  4. I'll pull the gutter trims off tomorrow and silicone the hell out of them before refitting them. They feel brittle, what's the best way to pull them off without snapping them?
  5. Thanks chaps Mine's a non sunroof model, it's baffling me right now, I must have overlooked something! Red area is where the damp is appearing, same place on the drivers side, but the passenger side is much worse, it has soaked the passenger footwell
  6. Small update, good and bad news. Sandblasted and repainted the blades to satin black with a silver lip, and finally got round to pulling the brakes apart, cleaning them up and painting them red. Finished Had chance to waxoyl the rain channels and underseal the floorpan and arches After this, things took a turn Metal post jumped out in front of me, and to cap it all off, the car has developed a serious water leak that initially seemed to be coming through the aerial base- I silicone sealed it from the inside but still leaking, I then silicone sealed along the plastic gutter trims and it places around the top windscreen seals, still no joy.
  7. Thanks for all the comments @ammarbm thanks buddy, it's an MB3
  8. Thanks jool, Next on the list is 16" O.Z Superturismo wheels in black, red calipers, and drop the ride height 35-40mm. Not sure if MG suspension is the way to go though as I want brand new suspension and finding new ZS 120 shocks and springs seems impossible. any lowering kits to recommend?
  9. Thanks all I must confess, I'm not completely sold on the rear splitters, but we'll see!
  10. When I bought the car it was nice and presentable, a few problems caught my eye:- n/s/r shock absorber leaking, o/s/r rear caliper leaking, halfords light-up washer jets, wheels weren't to my taste, long scratch on the bumper and various stonechips, interior was just disgusting, didn't appear to have been serviced for a while. I replaced the shocker and caliper, ripped the seats and carpet out to fumigate it, replaced the stereo with my JVC unit, sourced a set of 15" Honda fanblades, it was more pleasant to drive. Even had time to sap on some pseudo-genuine decals The air-con was a bit flat and smelt of a*s so I replaced the cabin filter, de-bugged the air vents, and regassed the system. Took care of the rusty heat shield while I had the bonnet up for an hour. Time for a service. New brake fluid, cambelt, aux belts, K&N panel filter, did away with the plenum/air resonator jobbie, Oil, plugs, fuel filter etc. etc. Went ahead with some trinkets just to tidy things up, a nice exhaust tip, did away with the tired looking Honda badge on the tailgate, and managed to find a nice leather honda centre console with storage/armrest. I was very lucky to find a VTI-S front splitter and side skirts, although they were silver so me and Libby (girlfriend aka ginger genius) spent the weekend prepping and painting them. Wash, Wax, Private plate, and here we go-
  11. Try a can of Air-Con Cleaner, despite the name it should still serve well as an air vent de-bug. Put air-con on max, turn on re-circulator, put the can behind the passenger seat, let it rip and run away from the car for a few minutes. Coupled with a new pollen filter it made mine smell fresh
  12. Seems near impossible to find a full set of brand new ZS shock absorbers to go with the Eibach lowering springs I'm looking to buy...! Any other uprated shock absorber options for the MB's?
  13. What age/condition is it all in bud?
  14. Well after scrutinising and comparing part numbers and part images the simple answer is... 120/180 shocks aren't available from any of our suppliers! I did think MB6 shocks with some eibach 30mm springs perhaps but as it turns out they have the same shocks as my MB3... It's becoming a real pain in the snail
  15. Thanks bud, should accommodate 17's fine, just worried that stepping into 205 territory is going to spoil the way it reacts to the road surfaces
  16. Ah right i'll get a reg number from a 180 for the shocks and a 120 for the coil springs then. thanks bud
  17. Considering replacing my 195/50 15 Honda rims and i'm thinking about 16's or 17's. Trouble is every time I've fitted 205/40 17's to a car it ruins the way it drives, tram-lining like hell and going whichever direction it pleases. Anyone else have experience of 205/40 17's on MB's or think 195/45 R16 is more than big enough without spoiling the drive
  18. So guys just to recap before I order bits tomorrow, all I need is shocks and springs from any age of MG ZS 120 for a straight fit and a bit lower ride height Thanks all

    Tyres

I'm currently running 195/50 15 on 6.5J wheels, it's one of the most popular sizes (good news for prices) and almost every manufacturer makes performance tyres in that size
  21. From my veedub years, 130mm front, 120mm rear Casualties- 2 sumps, 2 fuel pipes, 1 lower arm, 2 middle silencers, 1 tailpipe, 1 lower grille and a windscreen. 30mm will be fine

Just a photochop as the paperwork hasn't arrived for it yet, but here's my new reg:

You won't get any stretch from 205 on a 7J. At best you'll get a nice flush fit. Just bare in mind that the second unit (45) is a percentage of the width- not a unique measurement. So a 205/45 will have a slightly smaller rolling radius than a 215/45. I can't see that giving you any problems though
