It sounds like the caliper i had exact same problem on my mb6, the piston was seizing all the time but it looked healthy. Double check by cracking the bleed nipple and pushing the piston back, if it is still really hard to go back replace the calliper, if it goes back easy could be the flexi hose has collapsed.

The good old days when you fixed cars with tools and knowledge, now its all computer diagnostics.
-
You cant be that old My first 3 cars were post fix!

Haha so do I, this is the first non prefix car ive ever bought!.
-
Old cars Tom!, I bought my first MB6 7 years ago it was mint and had 90k and a full history, I paid £1650 for it!. They aint dropped much in 7 years.

He's joined what my VAG mates call "Team boost leak"
Enjoy the Cupra! Is it a standard 180bhp?
Not sure if its standard I had a go of one 3 or 4 years ago and wasnt impressed, my ones quick, its quicker than the MB.
-
Good. Not holding thier value well those cupras.
dunno Cupra R prices are similar to EP3 ones.
-
Swapped it and £200 for a 02 plate Cupra Tom.
-
Pretty easily my MB was getting on a bit and i got fed up of the lack of torque and midrange grunt
-
Bye bye vti, swapped it for a Leon Cupra the other day.

Wow! I want that in my life so bad! Always been a massive fan of these, was in one when it was brand new! Yeah, I'm that old, but hey, I was only a nipper! I'd have it done exactly like that, those arches, those rims, that engine! Its perfection that is!
ive always had a thing for these too, old skool cool with a moden twist.

Grrrrr so angry!! Got up early drove 20 miles dropped the car off, mechanic rings me at 3.30pm, 'wont have time to do it today'
Why are mechanics so bloody unreliable? Ok hes cheap at £25 but I throw the bloke loads of work and ive had this booked up for two weeks, so annoying
Going to book it into garage now, probably cost £100 more but least it will get done and Ill get a loan car
Change of subject..anyone ever used a tuning box, revo remap £350 spoke to a bloke today with a 2008 golf tdi swears by his, only 20bhp increase but only £80
i had a Passat TDi 115bhp PD engine with a tuning box and it easy beat my mates A4 TDi 130 and was dead even with another mates A4 Qauttro TDi 130 which had a proper remap and was 172 bhp but obviously 4 wheel drive and had a bit more transmission drag. To be honest though cheap tuning boxes are a bit crude, its just basically a resistor which fools the ECU into thinking the car is cold and pumps more fuel in, my passat used to pump black smoke out the exhaust when i booted it with the tuning box fitted!.

Mine has good reception and i live in the Scottish Highlands, can always switch it to FM if you are somewhere with bad DAB reception.
-
Did you? I'm sure any banter on here wasn't mean maliciously! Though feel free to report anything that offends you!
nah i wasn't offended it was just a bit of banter!.
What's it like to live with mate? I'm worried that I'm stuck with it for 3 years and I don't like it
You can't really get a good feel with a 20 minute test drive
Did feel mighty nippy though, quicker than the Mazda but might have just been the torque
Its really good to live with, DAB radio and cruise control is winner for me. mine was a bit flat when it was brand new but its opened up now. The only thing i found with it is a blind spot with the windsceen pillar and its not as good on diesel as i thought it would be but im not that bothered about MPG. I really like mine.

Yeah, I looked at the Mazda 5, Ford S-max, and the VW Touran and they were all high
The Zafira Tourer was from £299, naturally I wanted a better model with a bit more oomph, so opted for the cdti 165 Sri which is £499
Ive got a White one of these on Motability and its a cracking car, although i got slaughtered for putting a picture of it on here!.

800 ST?
(boost)
That'd be cool, but i'll bet someone already has that one!
Thats a Inverness plate, i aint seen it about here though lol.

What a car and what a job you have made of it in a short time too. Its almost a shame to shut that bonnet!.
-
Cheers guys, needs must and all that, ive got a garage Tom but can't get the car in for kids bikes and garden furniture etc, need to get it sorted.

Fitted a new CV Joint today as the old one sounded like it was gonna give up and disintigrate at any moment. Fixing cars outside in the driveway in February is not good.
-
£167 each is over priced, my mate works at a motor factors and got me a blue print rear bearing for £66 with his discount. Shows how much your local jap shop is making on them.
-
Here is a pic of my replacement PCV on the car, its the wee blue plastic thing in the middle of the photo, its located below the inlet manifold at the drivers side of the car.
