  1. Cool goota love gremlins the fuzzy kind that is

lol as long as they don't start messing with peoples automobiles!! :P

My new resistor arrived today.  Easily fitted in 10mins thanks to the 'How to' on here.  When I first started the heater again it started screeching, but quickly disappeared.  Hopefully that's it sorted :)

  2. I'd say a n/a S4 would bore you quickly and thats from someone who owns an Audi lol  They aren't proper V8s anyway are they?  Kinda slimmer configeration and I'd imagine they'd need an exhaust to waken them up a bit.

What about a B5 S4?  2.7 V6 twin turbo, especially with K04 turbos fitted.  Horrible to work on though but fookin quick.  Even then, they can be very quiet and boring, unless looking at the speedo.

  3. Strangely 3 and 4 now work, but 1 and 2 don't so I'm guessing it is the notorious resistor.  I ordered that part of eBay and will get it fitted once its arrived. Strange the car knew to wait until one thing was fixed before it broke something else.  It must be infested with annoying little Jap Gremlins

  4. Can anyone confirm that this is the correct heater resistor to order?

The thread that seems to get linked to most often is archived, so I can't ask on it, and I don't want to start another new thread on it

eBay confuses me when I try and find parts for the VTI-S.  So many listings don't seem to include the MB6 even though the parts fit.

    Thanks :)

  5. More smoke, more poke is right haha

That mk2 Golf runs clean most of the time but he built a 'smoke' button in to the dash.  He basically built some simple electronic doo-daa-whatchamacallit that dumps more fuel in.  When he comes across another car and needs to up the power a bit he just flicks the button, like a dirty diesel afterburner lol.  I'm no fan of diesels, but this drives like a revvy petrol, although it vibrates like mad on solid mounts.

500bhp is mental for a little 1.8T.  I'm guessing it was alot of work to get it there lol

I've always wanted to have a go in a mk2 or mk3 Golf with a 1.8T in it.  Decent suspension and a diff would make them a very capable little car.

  6. Its a shame the new car is already on the way out.  Sitting on the fence here, and I know we've all slagged you about it, but are you sure you've given it enough time?  Even with the wee bit of bother you're having with it, at least its getting sorted for free. Hopefully then you'd not have to go anywhere near the Kia dealer again?

If you are looking something else, what characteristics should it have? Use? Budget?

Don't be impulse buying any more cars without running them past us first :P

  7. HA yet another project !!!

For mapping reference mate, Bill & Paul @ Badger5 certianly know their stuff when it comes to your engine !

Thanks dude.  I've actually a turbo intake pipe from Badger 5 on the car. He really does know how to get the best out of them as it's the best TIP around.  He's a bit far for me to go though for mapping and spannering :(

  8. Last week I swapped the S3 for a friends mk2 Golf.  He wanted it cleaned for a local car show down at the Titanic dry dock.

Its a 1990 Golf GTI but there's a 1.9tdi engine underneath.  This doesn't go down well with the purists, but it has been heavily modified and when it was last dyno'd it was putting out 230bhp, 350lb ft torque and still does 40-50mpg.  He's now put in bigger injectors and a more efficient turbo and we left it down to a local tuners last night to get it mapped again.

There's a Peloquin LSD underneath to try to keep it under control but it'll still spin the wheels in the dry in 1st and 2nd lol

It's alot of fun surprising folks in bigger and more expensive machinery who don't expect to be overtaken by an old Golf.

The S3 is back at the house but I've diagnosed a dodgy actuator :(  New one ordered.  Hope it's an easy fit ffs.

After that I really don't know what to do with it.  I'd love something different, but if I sell this there's not really much else out there that interests me around the same price.
