mark11
wondered if anyone can help. I've got a de-cat on, ive got an oil/fuming smell coming through the vents when the car is stood. Its not a petrol smell, cos i know that rich smell from having a de-cat, its not burning oil smell and it doesnt use any oil. Imagine if you took the oil cap off on the engine and you get that oily fumy smell it smells like that. it doesnt smoke, just wondering if it could be a blocked breather. Any ideas where to check. The oil has been changed about 100 miles ago so its not old oil

scottravenhill
I have a decat and used to get smell in the car like this, have noticed that in warmer weather or after ive given it a good run, the smell of the exhaust fumes changes, might be this? as long as the oil level isnt dropping and shes running ok and no obvious leaks i wouldnt worry about it?also do you smell it more when stationary at traffic lights for example? Guest
You do realise by running with a decat the car will run rich?i have to say i have ran 3 hondas on decats current one is heat wrapped both decat and Mani i dont smell any oil at all but every motor is different make sure its not using oil matey could be the Valve stem seals just speculating not scare mungering.good luck

Guest
Hmmm i suppose it would smoke abit its a funny one i'd stick to checking the intake breather for crank gas sludge and rocker gasket, i never smell oil with mine on odd.
