Didjeridave
For any of us that use the MB6/MC2 on the motorway, having VTEC kick in at the spirited end of motorway speeds must be damn awful for mpg? Is it?? Would a VTEC-disable switch do anything or makes matters worse?
knight
Vtec only works under throttle position so on motorway speed you won't go into vtec unless you put your foot down
knight
my apexi @ 70mph says that my throttle position is only 15 to 20 %
Didjeridave
hmm, 70mph doesn't vtec, "slightly more spirited speeds" do appear to. Perhaps I should wire a vtec light in...!

Perhaps I should wire a vtec light in...!to engage vtec i think you need a throttle position of no less than 50%
crazycustomz
cant really calculate it on speed can you.depends on the gear used etc.you will be around a little over 4k rpm at 70mph so no vtec
Didjeridave
OK, I shall rephrase: IF one were to drive at or just over the proposed 80mph top speed in fifth gear, one would be pretty much at the vtec changeover. This will probably make our cars pretty poor on mpg as and when this change occurs. Would disabling vtec help here?
crazycustomz
all honda that ive owned, other then maybe my accord type r had these issues.maybe its the lack of torque or just the gearing
noodels
thought it was about 85mph max cruising out of vtec
