You can do it with cans, But they just do not have the pressure of a spray gun on a compresser . So bear in mind that finish ill not be 100% as good as a bodyshop finish ,

But as money at the min is a factor for all of use it will cost a fraction of the cost too.

Saying that my company at the min is doing a wheel deal 4 wheels refurbed for £100 all in any colour you want .:shock:

The only thing im not sure you would get from halfords would be the acid etch primer and the degreaser .But a paint suplier would have the lot in cans or in cans for you to spray with a compresser if you fancy a go.

As for coats

1x light coat of acid etch primer (its very thin for spray carfuly for you will get runs).

2x coats of primer a light coat and then a coat to cover, you may need 3 coats if it does not cover, Its better to do 3/4 light coats than 2 heavy ones and then get runs .

Again 2/3 light coats of your base colour . depends how it covers repeat until you can see no primer.

Clear coat is the hard part 1x light coat and then a good coat and then another good coat to get a finish ( no orange peal ).

You do not let each coat dry fully between coats as you do with all the other metrials . You just need to let flash off ,so you do not get runs .but its still wet enough to let the coats follow into each other and give you a good finish.

Rich.
