ShortySco
I'd say that saying you don't 'need' to sand it down is right enough. But if you want the best job, it's essential, it gives the surface a roughness for the next coat bond to, rather than painting onto a smooth surface, which will lead to a much more flawed and easily chipped finish.I often hear people say things like "90% of the work is in the preparation"That said i'm no expert, but I did once work in the paint department at B&Q
civicturbo79
90 % of the job is the prep ,i have worked in bodyshop now for 14 years now . If you do not sand the wheels the paint will not stick to the surface that is already there . Buy stripping the wheels and starting from clean metal ,there is nothing for the new paint to react with . For a mint job follow my guild . Rich. And is rattle cans ok, or not even worth bothering with? Can you get all the stuff from somewhere like Halfrauds, or a specialist paint shop? Hopefully im not the only one wanting to know the answer to these questions!!!!!
