allrite fellas..mb6 vti comes with an alarm as an optional extra..ive neva had mine conected since i bought my mota but its there.i have no key fob i just lock it via the key in the door method.it has central locking obviously and ive just got hold of a toad alarm for it with fob.what i wana know is if the alarm is wired into the immobiliser as a whole or if they are stand alone units?as the alarm is an extra and i have neva used a fob to lock the car so i dont know if me taking just the old alarm system out will involve messin up the imobiliser. as i want to take the original alarm system out to make way for the toad system.wats the point in avin it there as a dead weight in other words.and no im not guna attempt to wire it up myself  its jus prep basicly before i give it to the specialists

woah, paragraphs might help there chap lol

First of all, do you know anything about alarms? Removing a factory fitted alarm wont be that simple I dont expect.

Remember also, if you fit the toad alarm it can't be claimed as an alarm on insurance.

They will be wired into the ignition, immobiliser (the MB6 has a cat 2 immobiliser as standard) and all the door, boot and bonnet sensors.

You will have a brain box also which might be wired into the cars ecu, this will need to be removed aswell. I guess you didnt disconnect it?

i aint touched it yet fella  i aint even attempted it..yea i know a bit of how they work and what they incorperate but not enough to start rippin it apart without knowing what can be done and removed without finding out about it before hand.

Theres no doubt in my mind that its got a control module lurkin about the car for the alarm but i cant imagine the alarm being wired into the ecu???the immobiliser i can understand that being wired into the ecu..

but as i said the alarm isnt active and the immobiliser is and the central locking is when turning key in door.so they must be seperate?

if you've got the optional honda alarm, it's probably the same one that's on mine. It's a cat1 alarm / immobiliser and it's made by a company called Hamilton and Palmer.

the control unit for mine is under the driver seat - it's a black metal box bolted to the floor.

it's a pretty good alarm - loud as fook... might be worthwhile giving H&P a call to see if you can just get a new fob. I had to get a new siren for mine and the tech guy I spoke to was really helpful.

this is what the siren in the engine bay looks like:

and this is the key fob:

this is their website http://www.hamilton-palmer.co.uk/ and they're based in kent if you need to go see them

8-)
