WilkesyMB6
A few weeks ago I was driving along and it sounded like I drove over a plastic bottle. I was almost home so when I parked I had a look and there was nothing trapped under the car so thought nothing of it.The next week I was driving along and there was a knocking noise from the front passenger wheel. I have taken it to a garage and they had it on the ramp and there didn’t seem to be anything loose, and all looked ok.Just been out in the car and now I can feel the knocking through the pedals. Any idea what it could be?
hickster
Which pedal?Immediately I would say arch liner or undertray, but you have probably already ruled them out. Does it increase with vehicle speed or engine speed?
WilkesyMB6
You can feel it on the break pedal the most, but you can feel it through all the pedals. I wouldn't say it was a speed thing, it seems to do it randomly...
noodels
tyre balance weight come off ?
hickster
Could be a damaged tyre or lost balance but you should feel that through the steering wheel.Your driveshaft rubber balance thing may have parted company? You may have driven over something that knocked your exhaust into close contact with the floor? An engine mount is on it's way out?
hickster
-And obviously take the wheel off and check there is not a lump of tar etc on the back hitting the calliper, dismantle the brake and make sure it's not full of bits of debris . FREAKBOY
Could be all the above, and it could be the metal slash plate that sits behind the discs bent or corroded. It happened to mine, it just fell off after rattling for a while.
Raz s
I'd agree with the above them plates at the back of the disk are a nuisance. I had what sounds like a similar problem and it was them, just cut them off.
