Getting home on work Thursday evening, Christmasn Eve, knowing I wouldnt have to use the car for a few days meant I could make an absolute mess of it. Ripped the dash out again so that I could A) Route my battery cable properly, B) Mount a new washer bottle on the bulkhead C) Remove some of the cabling no longer needed D) see if I can measure up for a smaller, neater and lighter screen demister (I only want a windscreen vent). I also cut off the mounting bracket seen in the top left of this pic, which was what the airbag mounted to previously

Even the steering rack came out

New route for the battery cable

New washer bottle location (from a Ford Granada I think) - 0.99p ebay purchase - perfect size and shape for what I wanted

Some more of the sound deadening mounted to the bulkhead - fairly heavy for it's size, so nice to be rid of it.

I need the car back for Tuesday so I'll reassemble it tomorrow and fit the new rear LCAs next weekend.

Thanks

Do you mean this pic?

NewRideHeight.jpg

I didn't take any measurements, and I've raised it since to level off the camber a little (still on standard components at the back).

I do know that the rear sill jacking point was only about 3-4 inches off the deck though - very impractical, even for this car!

where did your buy the control arms, lower strut brace and the Coilover?

is it plug and play for the mb?

I bought the control arms from ebay, but they are just EG control arms, and so the lower strut mount bush is too wide. I have different bottom mounts for my shocks, but be aware of this potential problem with buying.

The front lower strut bar and the HSD coilovers were bought from a supplier here in the UK on the Honda Evolutions forum, but if you check the HSD suspension website and link to your country, they will put you in touch with a supplier more local to you. Their support is very good.

For the most part, all of the above is plug and play. The front lower brace is the easiest to fit, just unbolt the inner ends of the front lower wishbone, put the brace on and put the bolts back in.

The suspension is easy enough to fit (as shocks go), but the top mount nuts on the MB6 are 10x1.5 threads, whereas the HSD coilovers have 10x1.25, so you will have to source new nuts (2 for each corner).

The rear LCAs will fit, but as I say the bush is too thick to fit into the mount at the bottom of the shock. You can replace the bushes easily enough, or if I can find the wider lower strut mounts that will also resolve it.

It MAY also be possible to grind the bush down to fit as it's only a few mm each side, and it shouldn't affect the strength, but don't hold me responsible for this if you try it.
