POOR FUEL ECONOMY

Right so I had the car serviced recently, new oil, sparks, oil and fuel filter and it's driving like it's fresh from the factory.....only issue is the fuel economy is absolutely crap. I filled up £65.00 last monday and I've driven 140 miles and it's nearly all gone now. Is there something I've missed? Also I'm ruling out a leak since I checked under the tank in the morning to see if it had lost fuel but nothing to say it has done.

I'm having the cam belt changed on monday if all goes to plan I'll get it checked out then. I don't drive it like a loonie all the time, in fact hardly ever but when I do I manage 220 out of a tank.

boody 'ell, £65 in 140 mile's, i'll be honest, i put the same in last week and got 300+ mile's out of it, and that's doing 85 on a motor way,

check what other people have said, and if that check's out ok, i'd look at the lambda sensor (£50 iirc) but also do a ECU reset, there's a how to in the how to section. also check for vacume leak's on the air intake sysem as well.

also what fuel are you using as most of us find we get poorer economy on supermarket fuel's over branded fuel's like shell bp esso etc, i run mine on shell fuel save and i'm avagaging 30-35mpg.

perhaps a compresion test b4 belt fitting and emissions test too,may need £s spent eleswhere

very good point, ask them to stick it through a mot emission's test while it in there, as that will show up any issues to do with fueling low compression...

Currently on my first tank of fuel with my new MC2 and I aiming for a figure of around 40mpg+ (lots of hypermiling techniques)

You clearly have an issue with the running of the vehicle to get such a low reading
