when i decatted my car the light came on so i got a sensor spacer off of ebay for like a 5er and it spaces the sensor away from the fast flowing gasses and the car thinks the cat is still on and the light went away :) have to say sometimes the light pops on but soon goes off again.

Sensor spacers are for dual sensor setups with a second sensor downstream of the cat. MB/Cs have one pre-cat sensor & use this in closed circuit to set the fuelling. A one sensor system 'has no idea' that a cat is fitted, the cat just reduces emissions whatever's chucked through it. An extender will exacerbate the incorrect reading problem.

Best of luck with it :)
