NIKH25 Posted January 6, 2014 Share Posted January 6, 2014 My understanding of it is if you try to start the car with the Red key it'll fully immobilise the car and you'd end up getting Honda to replace the whole lot after getting it towed to the garage. That's what I thought, the owners manual isn't exactly clear but the red key is used to code new keys and if used to start the car wipes the ecu and makes the proper key unusable too. 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Way back when a locksmith could only make physical copies of the black keys but not the transponder information. That comes from the Red key.
