  1. This is what I use on my plastics, pretty good and lasts a while:

    http://www.autofinesse.co.uk/revive/

The trim at the bottom of the windows does come off but the clips that hold it on are very brittle apparently.

Bugger they had some of that in halfords. Will try that out next time I go in.

Hmm ok mate thanks. Will have a better look, would prefer not to break them. But they do need to be done. Would just be easier off the car.

  2. Yeah £15 is a decent price. Just takes the mick that they try n charge so much more per litre for the little bottle!

They really didn't have that many meg products... Only a shampoo and polish that was priced around the same IIRC ..

In fairness though I bought the autoglym as it's what in 'used' to. Will try other products out I the future.

So first cosmetic issue are the black plastics. These include, side skirts, door trims, roof bars, B pillar covers and most annoyingly the trim that runs along the bottom of the windows. These will definitely need rubbing down and painting. Does anyone know whether they can be taken off?

The rest, does anyone use any form of plastic restorer?? Dash shine maybe?? To try and spruse some life back into them??

  3. So, first rant. Well only rant. Friggin halfrauds.. Autoglym shampoo conditioner, £9.99 for 1l .. Bit pricey but not the worst I've seen. BUT next to it on the shelf, 2.5l .... Wait for it... For £14.99!!! Do they really think we're that stupid!?! So rant over, got that and a nice new microfiber wash mit. Off we go.

So after a quick clean. And I mean a very quick clean. Was only out there for an hour and a bit. Plus I started to loose the light and the temperature dropped causing it to condensate before I had a chance to dry with the second micro fibre cloth (Grrr)

But here are a couple of after shots. Came up pretty well I think. Although the paint is in DESPERATE need of a polish. It was proper nails down a black board feeling when going over the roof and bonnet. Loads of swirls, but majority should work out over a couple of polishes. There are maybe 8 'dings' I've identified, so fingers crossed a ding master company will be at japfest next year..

But despite the condensation, I think she's scrubbed up pretty well for a first clean.

Quick once over with a little break cleaner and a rag on the bay too

  4. Excellent news a new deck to the civic5 family... Look forward to some pics of her when you got her cleaned up and ready for her first photo shoot...

Thanks mate :-D am well impressed. Just took it for a quick blast. Massive grins :-D

nice car mate good base for a project. look forward to seeing this around

You'll probably see me at some pint Phil!

  5. Not the same pattern, either silver or carbon, I'm assuming you have the black ash in yours so you'll probably want to swap it anyway. ;)

Check out one4all's thread, he's just changed to the silver in his and it looks nice.

Cheers for the tips Nick. Will have a look at his thread shortly :-)

Am tempted to get a roll of carbon wrap, do the centre consoles and dash surround. Plus the Plastic b pillars as they have faded.

  6. MG ashtray is a complete cover, so the lighter is inside.

MB6 arb is around 4mm thinner than the 180's but as the deck doesn't have one to start with it's an upgrade. :)

Ah ok mate, is it the same pattern??

Yeah that's very true mate! Will definitely bear that in mind thanks!

So weather has held off for half an hour or so. Off to buy some more shampoo and give if a quick once over me thinks :-)

  7. Hope so mate. Certainly been well looked after and mechanically wise is mint. Even the rocker cover is still perfect!!

Oh really?? Why/how is it different??

Thanks mate, nice of you. Found one breaker that's got one.. Although I think when you factor in postage as he's miles away, it's going to work out pretty pricey. Is the mb6 ARB thinner do you know??

  8. Yeah, Wimbledon's a pig, glad you're happy with it. When do the mods start?? ;)

    This??

Yeah it wasn't the best. In fairness, it was only the last kinda 5 miles that took over half hour each way!!

Today I hope if the weather stops being shit!! Need to sort out wheels I want on. Then look at having the tyres changed over.

Induction kit can go straight on too :-D

  9. Awesome, I have a bag with 8 bulbs that would fit the clock, I can send you a few (incase any don't work) so you can replace it, you'll need a blower resister pack which can be had from eBay for less than a tenner!

An MGZS 180 rear anti roll bar would help with the roll the deck has :)

Might be worth sending 10000rpm a message about the lighter and ash tray, he breaks M's for parts or you could try ebay again for those?

Looks a good base from what you've described!

Cheers Kryzs !! That's really nice of you mate, it would be appreciated :-)

Will have a check on eBay now for an ARB I think. There are a few being broken so will drop them a msg. Do the mg drop links got without modification??

Will drop him a PM mate thanks for that.

It seems it mate. That was certainly my conclusion. Will give it a quick clean and going over tomorrow :-D then add some better photos :-)

Sure there was a few of those bits on our facebook page.

Will have a scroll through mate thanks :-)

  10. And the eagle has landed!!!

Really really impressed with it. If I'm honest, I wasn't expecting it to be quite so good. We'll start with the most important things.

It drives fantastic. Really does. I'd go as far to say it drives better than my lancer, and that has 25k less!! Pulls like a train, drives perfectly. Brakes are lovely and precise, although look a little worn.

Folder full of receipts, history and MOTs .. Original hand book and owners pack. Cosmetically, yeah it's good. Difficult to tell when it was semi dark. But stopped on a petrol forecourt and had a better look. Certainly nothing that's surprising for the age. Couple of odd dings and scratches. But overall, good condition but in need of a damn good polish.

Interior seems to be almost mint... Almost Everything works, the bulb has gone in the clock, the fans oy work on settings 4 & 5 .. Besides that it's lovely. Oh and the original red key will be in the post tomorrow :-D

    Only niggles are .....

Interior, ash tray n cigarette lighter are missing. Heater & clock bulb as above.

Exterior, couple of dings that I'll have a song master work their manic on.

    Engine/drivetrain, all perfect ATM.

Remote central locking is intermittent. Could be batteries though.

Handling, kinda does represent a boat :-o or maybe not a boat, but some form of barge. Definitely need lowering and stiffening. Which will be done in due course.

    And that's it !!!

So overall I am REALLY impressed and very very happy :-D

Very quick pic in the dark with her sat on the drive, not sure if it'll work.
