  1. Damn thats unlucky mate. I would suggest before making a decission, check the whole car from front to back. There can be rust on the floor up above the petrol tank which is pretty hard to see, so maybe use one of those inspection mirrors to try and get a good look at the inaccessible areas. If there's any other nasty bits found, I would break it for spares and find another one.  If there's no more rust found, then I'd start stripping it out in the front to see exactly how bad it is. If it isn't too severe, it's worth getting it repaired.

Just depends on how much you love the car mate.

First I've heard of one going there, but do know someone that had a Rover 400 (4 door saloon version) that looked mint but found out it was rotten in the same area as you mention above.

Were the arch liners missing when you got it, or were they in place? If missing, that could explain why its went. They don't have much protection on the panels there paint wise, so the plastic liners tend to save them

yeah. the arch liners were in place and are in great condition.

  2. Heres the deal. I just my Deck about 3 months ago. I really love the car because of the styling, the diesel engine, and the great roomy space for me and the family.

Recently I have run into a few problems that the seller hasn't told me about. I know that most cars in Europe suffer from the epidemic of rust. Its just how it is, and I can deal with that. So when the seller told me there is no rust on the car I couldn't believe him. But to my astonishment there was just the underbody rust that is typical even on American cars. There were no dents and no body rust at all. So naturally I bought the car.

This past Friday I went to my in-laws house with the family. I left the Deck home cause I was still prepping to put the interior back in from the Belgium incident. When we left it was raining pretty good and was also very windy as well. Well we get back today and the weather is pretty good to do work on the car. I go outside, open up the doors, and look down to find water inside my car's floor board. What the heck?!?!?!? I check all the usual suspects. Door seals, the boot seals, even the floor drain plugs. All those spots are dry. I even checked the AC drain tube, its good to go. Then I find it.

Turns out my firewall cushion padding is soaking wet, and I mean its dripping wet. Then I look to my right and find some 3rd degree rusting going on where the kick panels go. Its also on the driver and passenger sides, and the whole padding is wet.

So here is my question. Do I try to fix the problems on my car by pulling all the interior out to hunt down the leak and cut /weld new metal for the rust?

Or do I cut my losses and try to sell or scrap it?

  3. Oh.

Off to a breakers yard then?

problem is there aren't that many yards in my area. and the ones I do find don't have M chassis civics. its a shame actually, but also a good thing. shows that people take care of their M's.

Should think Rover/MG cars may use the same pattern for the carpets?

hmmmm...... maybe. but its the same with Rover/MG not too many around here.

  4. shame about the water but those seats look awesome!

oh, well it happens, eeerrrrr I guess. lol, thanks for the compliments

Those seats look awesome dude i didnt know they would fit! top job

I used some Konig bases and they fit pretty good. one hole is off just by a few cm's but that no problem. nothing my Dewalt cant handle.

Ouch, not good about the water damage, it seems that it could have been far worse though!

yeah, it could have been a lot worse. at least the car was drivable.  I went to Honda today to get a price quote on the seats and carpet and found out they don't make them anymore and cant order them.

  5. well I am back from Belgium from school. while I was there it rained soooo much that my car got flooded out by the over flow of water. had to pull out the carpet and let the car air out.

the good thing is it allowed me to test fit my Recaro seat and see how it felt.

I used a Konig seat base and some sliders that came with the seat. fits nice and snug and the Recaro is oh so comfortable.

  6. did some upgrading on this rainy Wednesday afternoon after work. decided to throw in my older Spoon goodies that I had in the Garage. I had to install the HBK Boss Hub kit and it worked out great.

I put a nice cushion of foam and electrical tape around the diode so that it wont get banged around too much.

pics aren't that great cause I didn't want to use my Nikon today. sorry.

  7. Famous last words^^^

that's how it always is. but I told the wife I would not go all out on this one. especially since I am working on my K series project.

    Always the case!

200+bhp diesel monster coming soon! 8-)

I would like to see what this Turbo SOHC can do, but I don't know much about these Rover L series. not gonna lie I have seen some cool Rover parts that look legit.

problem is some of these parts, the top 2 links, aren't made anymore. but I will look into it later on down the road.

  8. been off the grid for a lil bit. work has kept me pretty busy these days. I had to take the rims and tires off due to the rubbing when going over bumps and the likes of. so I threw on the Zenders for the time being. I think I need to get 205 series tires all around to help with the rubbing.

at least my rear camber kit finally came in; I will post up pictures of that later on.

  9. Oh wow!

    Perfect.

I've had to roll my rear arches

thanks. I just did a lil rolling of the wells in my garage the old school way. when I get the chance I want to have a shop get it better for me.

I really like your taste in wheels

They look perfect on the Deck and sits nice too, kind of what I'm looking for!  I got to get 16's for mine now after seeing this :)

I appreciate the comment. yeah I believe that 16's are a very nice fit for the Decks.

I try to keep my wheel selection very simple and tasteful.

  10. this why I kept failing my inspection for the e-brake being uneven.

    20140720_174419_RichtoneHDR_zpsr6wtadaw.

these things are done and done!!! gonna keep them as cores so if I ever need some new-new ones I can turn them in. after adjusting the e-brake cables, and bleeding the brakes the car stops a lot smoother now.

I looked at the adjuster nut and lever for the e-brake cables and it is level just as it should be.
