Those rims will look great where you've killed the cancer!
thanks Tom. I am going to take a crack at them soon. hope is not too hard, but it looks to be easy. pretty sure some primer, primer filler will take care of a lot of the old stuff.
-
At least the rims finally turned up but 19 days really takes the p1ss!
My calipers seem to be more grey than black, look like they were painted with hammerite.
yeah. these are actually OEM from Acura. when they are in good shape the color will last a long time.
-
As I said earlier the calipers are pretty solid and in EXCELLENT condition. like I said I am gonna clean them up, most likely tomorrow.
I am rerally digging the AZEV rims, they have a simple old school look and feel to them.
here is the cancer I was telling you about. I know its not a real big deal, but after 19 days and not being mention this was here by the seller, I am a lil p'eed off. should be easy to clean up with some sand paper, primer, and rim paint.
-
Cool! They look alright from the pictures!
Update:
Douche bag finally sent the rims and tires after 19 days of waiting. Found out the seller is like 3 hrs away. Carzy is what is is. I looked at them and all but one rim is good. The rim has some cancer from what I believe to be salt, and now I have to fix it.
I am still going to finalize the case with ebay to see about a partial refund or something. I am definitely dropping negative feedback on this situation.
The rear brake calipers are in as well. I will clean them up in a few hrs. Thinking about painting them gunmetal to give them a lil more corrosion protection.
Pics to follow of rims/tires and calipers.

Yeah the guy will get his just deserts!
Where did you buy the rear brake calipers from? Direct or another place!
I got them from a member on another car forum that I am on.
-
Oh dear. Doesn't sound good about the rims.
Hope you get the wheel situation sorted!
it sucks but at least its just the 1st time ever, and I will get my money back. so no real worries. Karma is a b you know.
-
as I said earlier here are the pics of the rear brakes
along with that it was time for some much needed minor maintenance as well. changed the oil, oil filter, and air filter.
yesss, I am a sucker for royal purple. have been using it for years in all my built cars and daily drivers.
-
but in other news I have a set of rear breaks on the way from America from a 99 Acura GSR that are in pristine condition. pics to follow.
and my Apexi turbo timer came in today as well. gonna have to look up some info on how to properly install it. I am sure this Diesel ecu is a little different from regular gasoline Honda civic ecu. I cant wait to install this bad-boy

been outta the loop lately. dealing with work and other crap. had a bad experience with this ebay seller with the rims and tires. been dealing with ebay since 2003 and now this is my 1st time having to have them get involved.
long story short:
paid for rims June 29th, were supposed to be at my house July 4th. I ask for tracking info on the next business day to make sure they were shipped and so I can be available when they show up. July 3rd the seller gives b.s. response
they never show up. contacted the seller and he/she plays stooopid, asking where to ship them and for my address. seriously?!?!? WTF man.
well 6 emails later and opening a case with ebay, the seller responds with the same old same old. " oh sorry its taking so long. had to make sure they were properly packaged."
well its now July 11th no rims with tires, no tracking information, no explanation on what could be the hold up.
looks like I might have gotten scammed. good thing is its covered by ebay and paypal. just sucks this deadbeat did this.
struggle is real boys

hey, nice find. also not too shabby
-
I'd be screwed then, I have no children!
If you're confident then I'd buy new seals etc and rebuild it!
that's why you have to adopt, just for cases like this. lol,,,, just kidding.....

I think eBay would be your friend if you need to replace them!
I have looked all over ebay in America, Germany, the U.K., and even Australia. its all the same, front brakes are affordable, rear breaks they want your 1st born child.
-
I've just had all four calipers refurbished and found my handbrake cables to be shot too so replacing both sides! Very uneven on the adjuster the same as you described.
Yup. Just replaced one of my calipers!
damn!!!! the struggle is real dudes!!!

Unfortunately most of our cars struggle with rear calipers
yup, a lot of Honda cars do actually. but for a 15 year old car I wont complain. but I wanted to change the brakes up anyway. was thinking about doing a CTR/ITR front brake swap, with 02-03 Civic Si rear calipers. Or just do up the VTi set-up.
-
Is it sticking? Could always rebuild it? Might be worth doing even after you replace it then you have a good spare.
the right rear is sticking a little bit. the parking brake cables, by the adjusting nut, are very uneven. I took a look at my EK4 to make sure and compared. They are straight in line with each other and the wheels spin freely. I even did the proper adjusting to a T using the shop manual.
so I am not sure if its the piston or not. all the other visible parts, although covered in rust, move freely.

Good bunch of goodies for you to go at there!
yup. they are I great shape too. I am waiting to see if the seller can find some OEM mud guards and some brake calipers in good shape for me. one of my rear calipers is acting stupid, so I should replace them now, before later
-
the postman ring my doorbell really early this morning. as a matter of fact it was a lot earlier than usual, as they generally show up around 2-3 in the afternoon, and not 7:35 in the morning.
but no worries as my stuff from member @10000rpm was in the package. big thanks to him or her, not really sure, for the good. I just need to find the time to install this along with some other bits and pieces.
-
Ooo I like them a lot! They will suit nicely... The next 3 days will be the longest days ever
lol, I know.
does anyone know where I can find some mud guards from? I believe Honda has discontinued them for the Decks.
-
Those AZEV wheels make the 90's kid inside me very happy.
cool. i like the older style rims that are out there.
-
Are they on yet?!?!?!!!
no not yet. Thursday they will be here. hopefully i wont need any hubcentric's for them so i can just slap them on the car.
-
They look nice! Should compliment the Deck!
they will also fill in any gap in the wheel well as well. planning on taking my car to get inspected tomorrow and i should pass with no problems. especially since i fixed all the problems.
-
ended up winning some 16in AZEV rims with some Hankook Ventus Prime 205 series tires. not a bad deal for 200 euros shipped and will be here this Thursday.

well i was fortunate enough to talk to some Rover guys over at mg-rover.org site. they gave me some good info and a link to a little info site on the rover diesel engines. some pretty good information over there as well. they have a nice front mount intercooler set-up for the rover 200/25/ZR. this pretty much the same engine set-up as my Deck.
check out this link and take a look-see:

thinking about scooping this up a few months down the road.

Nice, back home and straight on the mods, like it!
Glad you had a good time away!
thanks, its good to be back.
took the car to the car wash spot this morning. cleaned up a hell of a lot of old oil, dirt, grime, and muck. i had to take the bash guard off to access the back of the engine block and oil pan. i am sure there is a gasket leaking some where, but i need to check the car after a few more drives to see if and when it leaks.
i also plan on doing an oil change soon as well.

wheels are on. I really like how the wheel well is filled up. only problem is I need to roll the rear fenders a lil more due to the 225/45/16 tires. the rims are actually pretty wide and I need to tuck them in with a camber kit.
what do you think?!?
