  1. Gotta love when people 'run' 200+hp n/a on stock cams, like why did Honda not just put a C4 with an exhaust in the teg instead?

Dogg depending on where you get it mapped they have a kind of deal where you'll pay, say £300, upfront and then every time you want the map tweaking you pay just for pure dyno time, which in Manchester is usually £90/h so it could just be worth getting it mapped as is now and then getting the cams/springs/retainers and then going back for round 2. To fit a DC2 throttle body mate all you'll need is an EK4 throttle cable and bracket, looking at about £35 all in from Japserviceparts. I'll try get a picture up later so you can see how it'll go

  2. Ahh the same noise mine had when letting off lol. It definitely needs a map mate, I was pretty upset when I fit mine cos is sounded quieter and felt like it pulled a lot less than the stock mani with the htune custom basemap. The blox/skunk/dc2 style intake manis move your powerband higher up the rev range and you lose a chunk of torque because of it, but when you get it fully rolling road mapped they get most of the torque back so you essentially have the best of both worlds. Also mate when looking at the DC2 throttle bodies watch out because there are two types and one doesn't come with the top connector for the charcoal cannister connection, some say you can just block off the pipe but my idle was fooked because of it.

  3. Yes mate vtec was more pronounced on mine when I fitted it, even now when I swapped my whales p***s for the Dc2 box and pipe it sounds louder than my mates mb. Could also be an idea to bend the throttle cable bracket down a bit if you plan on keeping the c4 throttle body because the intake mani sits a lot higher than the old one and I had the problem whereby the throttle cable would rub on the bonnet when letting off after WOT.

  4. That seems like a very decent price for a rebuilt S80 with shorter 4th and 5th. What was the guys name btw as I bought mine off someone whose selling one similar to what you're describing and mine was well and truly fecked but advertised as being mint.

  5. As said above mate the 4.7 S80 with the S4c 4th and 5th is very nice and short, and when coupled with a lightweight flywheel, the C4 really does rip through the gears. As for getting more power and reliability, it really depends on what your class restrictions are. If you're looking for 200+ I would look at getting a set of cams and uprated valve springs/retainers once you've done the usual I/H/E bolt ons and a map. Also mate if you've not got yourself a set of wheels yet I would recommend a set of proper lightweight wheels, they made a huge difference to mine

  6. Regarding the B16 head, it actually drops the CR when bolted on a C4 block and makes less power. If I was to go back and re-do my build I'd stop f***ying around and just buy a B18C and have 198hp from the off. In the meantime, an S80 makes a maaaaasive difference to how responsive the C4 feels.

  7. A full 2.5" system is a good start already, especially paired with a good Toda style 2.5" manifold. Also on a C4, a replacement intake manifold is a must for peak hp. 220hp from a C4 is going to be a bit of a push, but if you are willing to go pretty hardcore it can be done. Another thing you could look at is building a B20 bottom end and running your C4 head on it. A built B20 with forged rods/pistons and bolt ons will see 220+hp on a C4 head, I've priced it up recently and you're looking at around £1500-2000 for it to be reliable and have springs/retainers capable of revving to 9K.

  8. Agreed about Stevie, Krzy. It's also a hell of a lot cheaper than Vtec Direct quoted me using all Oem bits. Best of all was I had half of it paid by the tw@t who who sold me the 'perfect, crunch and whine free' box in the first place lol.

We also did a 3 stage machine polish on her and my friends ATR. Definately recommend anyone with a spare day to have a go. So rewarding seeing the before and after. Also, the rear lights look weird in that picture because of the reflectors, it looks much better in real life, honest haha!

  9. Haven't updated this in a looong time! Few little things done such as, blackened headlights, indicators and very very slight smoke on the rear clear strips on the lights similar to the way the Accord type R is. Whale p***s has been swapped out for a Dc2 airbox and pipe with Spoon drop in filter and my cold air feed has been plumed directly into the air box. Skunk2 66m throttle body was fitted because of problems fitting an integra one (ruined the rotor spring Doh!). Gearbox has been rebuilt at Grinspeed with mfactory parts and at the same time an RPC stage 2 jobby was fitted, as well as a 3.6kg Fidanza flywheel.

Speed wise it's exactly where I want it now, the thing bloody flies up to 60mph! Just a few little mods on the exterior (smoothed bumper and strips) and then I'll focus on the interior. Oh Vti's front lip has gone on and the skirts will be going on when I get them back from the painter.
