  1. Thanks for the comments boys!

Tom, its actually saddening to see how under-rated these MBs are. 10x more car than the EK Vti and yet they cost a whole lot less. Similar thing with the ATR to be honest. Guess people can't handle the back end   :-D

Cheers Jay, the subtle look was exactly what I'm after. I love the standard fat 5s but wanted something a bit bigger, and these fit the bill. Ahhh, how hard is it to swap the throttle cable over mate?

Cheers Ammar, I keep meaning to get some proper pictures of it :D

Thanks Krzy, I've ordered some Cyberspeed front camber arms and LCAs so I'm planning on getting it all fitted and then taking it to one of those places who do a fast-road alignment set-up. Heard some good things about having it done on the R's.

Anyway, landed myself in a pretty big problem. Wheel arrived today, great! Went to remove my old one, and boom, locking wheel nut head snaps straight off. B****rd nut will not move at all. The removal tool still fits on and grips but I need to find a way of keeping it centred on the bolt.

  2. Spoke to Rim-Style yesterday night and they've arranged to have the right size wheel sent to me tomorrow, so can't really fault their customer service. Seems like they don't hold any stock themselves but put the order straight to Rota and put the delivery address as mine.

Couple of pictures of the wheels on:

Love the fitment now, sits perfectly on the edge of the arches. In serious need of lows though, and they will come in the form of the Meister Zeta's. The car has changed massively in the last week as well, it's gone from pulling and handling well, to an absolute animal. Don't know what's happened to it but I'm not complaining. Had a little race when I first picked it up with my uncles FN2 and mates ATR and lost by a good car and a half, whereas now it's dead on neck and neck upto about 80-90 where our private race-track ends :)

Took the bonnet engine bay cover off as well which has dramatically improved Vtec noise but also every other noise. Keep turning the radio off thinking I've heard a knock or clang or something, used to be a regular past time in my old knackered Accord  :-D

Still having problems with a stiff accelerator. It's fine until I push it more than 50% down at which point, when I let off and go to push it again, it's stiff until pushed a little and then its fine again until I nail it. I've sprayed WD40 on the pedal mechanism and the throttle cable but it's not done much, although it does move a little freer when driving normally.

  3. Wheels turning into a bit of a nightmare  cry.gif1 First they sent the wrong spigot ring size and now it turns out one of the wheels is 4x100 instead of 4x114 and conveniently the offending wheel does not have the Rota sticker on the inside so I'm thinking maybe someone has returned it and they've sent the wrong one. Rim-Style are sorting it for me but currently, with 3 wheels on the car it already feels so much better. Steering is no longer killing my arms because its that heavy and the tyres are gripping nicely.

  4. Thanks for all the feedback guys :)

Got home from work and found the Spigot rings had arrived. Proceeded to fit 3 wheels but the last one proved to be a major bitch, especially in my tight garage. Driving it to a car-park tomorrow to fit and get some pictures.

Going to pick up a set of black DC2 Recaro fronts and rear bench next weekend. Hopefully, I can work something out with the rear seat covers so the interior matches. Need to find a set of black door cards to match the new seats.

Also, arch gap is looking pretty big with the new wheels and I've read nothing but good stuff about coilys for the MB, so going to go and order some Meister Coilovers tomorrow and then I think its down to Ricky at Race Tech for one of those Basic B series turbo kits. What do people think about running a turbo on the stock brake system with a good set of disks/pads/lines? Should I be budgeting a big brake kit or will the MB6s be fine?

Pictures to follow tomorrow, cheers lads and ladies.

  5. Love the FN2 mate, yours looks a minter.

I had my uncles for 2 months whilst he was in another country on business and every problem you're describing I experienced when driving it. It had a flat spot after fitting the HKS RSK and then the K&N Apollo but once he'd fit a flash-pro and had it mapped it sorted out the problem. Not sure if you're running an aftermarket intake but it could be something to look into. The Kangarooing stuff was awful as well, a touch too much throttle when cold and I'd be bouncing down the road with people looking at me. Don't know if he got that sorted but it was annoying. His gearbox wasn't too bad but changing from 2nd into 3rd at the redline would crunch sometimes. Some Redline MTF sorted that to a degree. The creaky suspension was fixed by having the subframe dropped and re-greased.

Yours looks great though mate, I'd definately try and get those problems sorted so it runs perfect because despite what Clarkson and some EP3 owners say, it's actually a fantastic mix of performance and style/comfort (never drove it on stock suspension).

  6. Wheels and tyres arrived today, delivery man decided to scare the hell out of everyone at 7am banging on the door like it was the end of the world, haha. Went to fit them but found the spigot rings were a size too big, so rang Rim-Style and they promised they'll get the proper ones shipped out today which isn't too bad. Hopefully they come tomorrow so I can get them on. Only took one wheel off but it had no weights on it and the tyre was showing canvas so hopefully these will sort out the skitishness at motorway speeds. Might stop spinning when pulling off at normal speeds as well  :-D

  7. Update - Changed over the pollen filter today as the heaters were killing me with fumes. There was literally a forest of leaves and crud in the hole where the filter goes and the actual filter looked like it was the original haha. Much better now though.

My uncle has an FN2 and picked up the Gruppe M intake for it so he's giving me his K&N Apollo kit which I should be fitting tomorrow. Comes with a heat-shield/cover type thing which has cold air ducting attached onto it. Makes the K20 scream so hopefully it will do something about my lack of Vtec noise after fitting the smaller exhaust.

So because I managed to get the insurance for a great price I've decided to use the money to buy a couple of expensive items for the car and then call it day. So, as a result I ordered 4 16" Rota Slipstreams in black and 4 Michelin Pilot Sport 205/45/16 tyres. Should be here next week, well excited.

  8. Yeah it was on eBay a few weeks ago which is where I saw it. The exhaust was the most embarrassing thing I'd ever seen, managed to knock off a decent amount from the price because of it  :-D. The ToyoSports one is much more subtle but it's not nearly as loud in Vtec. No rattles though  applause.gif1

  9. Hello guys, been on here a while now and you've all helped me out so I think it's about time I made a build thread.

Initially I was looking at 1.4 MB sports because I'm 20 and thought I'd get shafted on Insurance but after ringing about, I managed to get fully comp for just over a grand on an MB6. Yay!

So started hunting for an MB6 and found one not too far and a for a decent price, so went down and a few days later I picked up a 1999 Pirates Black MB6 which is absolutely rust free and with one of the cleanest Engine bays I have ever seen on a 15 year old Honda.

    87_1.jpg

So the spec list when I bought it was:

A bunch of blown Sony X-plod components

    An adjustable decat

A cat-back with a hiddeous 5 1/2" backbox which was held on with 1 hanger and rattled like mad

A bit of piping with an eBay filter on it

    Powder-coated wheels with 4 miss-matched tyres

HID kit which I love, not too bright but not too bluish

Things I've done to it so far:

    Rover wind deflectors

JVC headunit with a 1100W JBL 6 channel Amp, 1000W JBL sub, Alpine front door speakers and 6x9s. Luckily one of the previous owners had a good install so all the wiring was already there and the front door speaker holes were covered in sound proofing

    DC2 gear knob

ToyoSports cat-back which is great for £150. Car sounds so much deeper than before and Vtec is much more pronounced because the exhaust doesn't drone everything else out  applause.gif1

Service inc Engine oil, filter, gearbox oil, fuel filter, plugs and leads, pollen filter

Energy Suspension Gear linkage bushings which has made changing gear so much better

    Magnetic Sump plug

Had some Alluminium piping laying around so I stuck the original rubber pipe on and ran the ally piping down to where the resonator box sits as a home-made CAI.

Loving the car at the minute, came from a 1.8l Accord which had around 135bhp when new but the one I had was s**te, so the MB6 is like a major step-up. The next few things I want to do is throw on some 16" Rota Slipstreams and some coilovers but the Meisters cost basically 3 1/4s of the car  :-D Going to be saving up money to hopefully boost it over summer/winter but I want it to be able to handle the power first.

I'll put some current pictures of the car up tomorrow, but thanks for reading :)

  10. Been driving it for the past few days and had no problems with it, but it came back for a few seconds today. It's having a major service carried out tomorrow so hopefully it'll sort everything out. Bought some of that injector cleaner as well and I'll make sure the plugs are all in properly.

    Thanks for the help fellas.

  11. I'm starting to think I've got a cursed car but anyway today I'm driving along and glance down at the trip meter, and it's telling me I've done 892 miles when in reality it's been about 50 miles since I reset it. So I start watching it and it adds another mile after every 5-6 seconds. Luckily, the total mileage isn't doing this but I've never heard/had this problem with any other car I've owned or driven. Anyone shed light on it?

  12. Cheers lads, I've also got cone filter on it with no heat shield, could it be heat soak or anything? Will have a look at the plugs tomorrow but if they do need replacing what are a good set for the B18C4?

Again, thanks for the help :)

  13. Hello again guys, so today I'm driving around in 4th gear and the car starts stuttering so I give it a bit more fuel and it keeps stuttering but then all of a sudden stops and the car starts driving normally again. Engine pulls fine, no smoke in Vtec or anything, however it does smell pretty rich. No check engine lights or anything. Anyone know what the problem could be? I'm leaning toward plugs + leads but I've also read that the Lambda sensor can be a bit dodgey?

    Thanks for the help guys.

  14. Hello again guys, basically I've bought the Toyo Sports Catback which is 2.3" I believe and I'm looking at buying a 2.5" 4-1 Manifold for it. Will these work with the standard cat or will I need to get a decat and if so, will this one work?

Thanks again for the help, you're all amazing!
