RS1T
Have noticed that when I start my car in the mornings, especially if it's been raining, within the first minute or so of running the engine, I notice a loud squealing noise coming from the engine. If I rev the engine, this noise goes away.I'm told it's one of my belts slipping, but which one is it and how would I fix it?Alex
johngreen537
Probably the alternator belt mate.Down load the workshop manual from here and tighten it up a bit! Dead easy job
jalesi2001
With the engine not running grab each one and give it a wiggle, you will probably find one feels more loose than the other 1 (or 2 if you have A/C!)
johngreen537
could be PAS belt too Both easy enough to tighten up (or replace)
KiNK43
Alternator belt and aircon belt are a pig to replace. You cant get to to ac tensioner without girly hands and twiglet arms.My guess though is alternator. Mine does it regularly, quick tighten and job done. I did replace the belts but decided to ditch the ac for the above reason.
johngreen537
I have tiny and double jointed hands Comes in handy working on Jap Cars! To be fair, I'd ditch the aircon if I'd had even the slightest problem with it Any excuse
KiNK43
I know, that compressor weighs about as much as a small ostrich. Who really needs aircon any way? Thats what windows are for.

johngreen537
lol, I knocked the price of my EP3 down slightly as it was a 'non' aircon model, so showed him the ones with aircon for the same price : I did specifically get the non aircon one though, saved me ripping it out later!
