johngreen537
Stick with a drop in panel filter and remove the resonator mate.
Stu_civicsport
whats one of them look like ?
johngreen537
Loks like a 'normal' air filter element and goes in your standard airbox. The resonator is a box inside the front driver side bumper, and basically marginally restricts air flow and quietens induction noise. Some cheaper cone type bolt on filters sound bloody good, but can actually reduce performance. There's a few people on here who use panel filters and swear by them, me included when I had my M!Only 'down' side is they don't make the same noise levels as a cone filter.Guess it's how you want it really, sounding deep with induction roar, then go cone filterSounding not as deep or loud, but better airflow, then panel filter
simpo
i think rich should do this on his dyno and see which is best. also which one would be better on fuel?

johngreen537
Rule of thumb is more performance, is less fuel economy. Fine line though!
simpo
Stick with a drop in panel filter and remove the resonator mate.why do you need to remove the resonator? do you need to put a cold air feed in for it replacement
