So far, it was August 2010, everything was fine, but the engine was "drinking" (a term used in Portugal) too much oil. When i rev'd, a lot of white smoke :? so, there was a problem to take care of...

...But not in time =(

25th Semptember 2010... On a trip from my home city (Viseu) to Algarve (almost 400 miles) this happend:

25092010837.jpg

Only 40miles to arrive, I stop'd to put more gas ang go.

I rev'd a quite after leaving the ServiceArea... was @ 208kmh/130mph, for about 3 minutes... all of a sudden the engine started to make some weird noises... i slowed down right away, but the noises were getting worse... =(

Enginel Light? Off

Oil Light? Off

Stop'd at the next ServiceArea... didn't know what to do, or what the problem was. No lights on the dash so i was confused... =/

15min later, started the engine again... noises were worse... went off anyway... I just wanted to arrive asap... but slowly...

3~4 miles after, the engine started to brake itself... clutch down, engine stops immediately... pull'd over...

Called the trailer (i think its how its called).

The guy come's out of the trailer and simply asks about the Oil! and i'm like :shock::shock: "how could i forget that? but wait, the oil light was off"

Well... the problem was that in those 3 minutes i rev'd/@130mph, all the oil went out...

Could only be solved with new engine...

Old/original one (some parts were removed already for swap):

New Engine:

D16A9 Non-VTEC 130hp

(known for CRX/Concerto 16i16)

Cam position Sensor... i had to do that... Distributor was DoHC and the cable adapter was SoHC

While the engine was being swap'd, i bought some gifts:

Tenzo-R Short Shift + Seatbelt Honda Pads

Finally, here is the video of the engine working some minutes after 1st start :D

Safe Mode on (3500rpm cut) due to original ECU not compatible with D16A9 engine.

I have more pictures to post, i'll update as soon as possible.

Thanks guys :)

Yes, it alsco came in the Rover 216 GTi. Actually this engine got a little more low/mid-range Torque than the last one.

I love that low-rpm pull :D

btw, the ECU is remapped after 3500rpm. You feel a little "bump" @ 3500rpm, and till redline (remapped to 8k rpm)... it's like a beast!! :D lol

I'll post more pictures of some mods & repairs.

Hi mate, how hard was the swap. I was looking in to doin the same with my mb2 as I found a full engine for 60 notes. I asked around on loads or forums but nobody replyed to me. Prob because its not been done brfore.

Well, you have a D14A7 90hp, i think.

If you got an S20 or S40 gearbox, its plug and play. So, no problem with that.

Check that first :)

What you will need :

-ECU from CRX/Concerto 16i16 (The CRX ECU is more "aggressive")

-ECU cable harness for the engine,

-Engine mount (the one near the camshaft) and i'll show you a picture why you need it.

Be carefull, if the "new" engine does not have a Distributor, u have to buy one.

SoHC distributors dont fit on DoHC engines.

If it doesn't have a Distributor, it also means u need spark plug cables... and again, SoHC fit but they are too long and dont cover the spark plug holes.

If u need any more info about the swap, let me know and i'll try to help you the best I can :)

Cheers
