You can't really tell anything about the rate of a spring from the unsprung length, the compressed length or even number of coils really; it's all down to the stiffness/elasticity of the material. I'm sure I had to compress springs far more than 1" using spring compressors to get them on the damper. It would be quite possible for the springs to be exactly the same length as stock & compress to the -40 they're meant to be when installed. Give it a try first!

This 100% correct, you wont know till they are fitted. The difference in height between sprung and unsprung springs is huge! my eibach springs were about 2 inches shorter then my standard MB springs, yet the car didn't drop 2 inches it dropped less, its all in the material being used.

oh my bad. I am no mechanic and my friend who is training to be a mechanic said he thought they look standard too. plus I didnt think aftermarket springs comes in black except eibach's which are black/dark grey.

will try them next week and see how it goes.

Hi guys. I think it would be better to take measurements of the standard ride height your deck has BEFORE fitting, then fit the new ones and do the same again mate. As said above, the compression the springs are under whilst on the strut are huge, so you deff wont get a real indication until fitted bud.

I've seen a few a/m springs in black also ;)
