scoobyluke Posted November 16, 2011 Share Posted November 16, 2011 Morning all - this is my first post and I don't know much about the car I've just purchased so be gentle!I've decided to break my scoob after 10 years of ownership and needed something a bit better on fuel while my mrs and I buy a house.So I picked up a Civic 1.6i Vtec 5door Hatch. If i'm reading the Vin right it says the Model is an MB4 with a D16W4 engine. What spec would this engine be?The only issue with the car is that the gearbox appears to have a bit of a whine in 1st and 2nd - what gearbox would be attached to a D16W4?Cheers!Luke Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
kyekye09 Posted November 16, 2011 Share Posted November 16, 2011 hi bud you have the same engine as me D16W4 vtec with 126 bhp and through loads of searching and internet nights in ive found that it uses most of the components/parts numbers as the D16Y8 from the early civic sr...... but there is still loads of people out there that say the W4vtec doesnt exist (i had to show a honda tech at the last service as for your gearbox i have no idea but someone on here will help you out Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

kyekye09 Posted November 16, 2011 Share Posted November 16, 2011 have a look at the rocker cover (left hand side at the rear) just behind the dizzy cap you should see a little oil barrel with wires coming out of it that will be your vtec solenoid Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
