hi,

so ive had the rear brake callipers of 4 times now and they still squeal.

when i first got the car i noticed the rear callipers where dragging very slightly so i took them apart, cleaned the carriers, pushed the pistons back and gave it all a light coating of copper grease. drove it a few miles and they started squealing like mad.

stripped them down again, same thing again.

took them apart again last night, got a razor sharp wood chisel and cleaned the carriers so thoroughly you could see your face were the pads sit. cleaned up all the stainless clips etc. drove it of and a mile down the road started again.

im thinking about getting new pads and discs but the callipers look almost new, no paint at all on them and there’s virtually no rust on them? they still have the bar code stickers on them. does anyone think callipers that look so new could be faulty??

cheers josh

when installing the pads in to the carriers they should move freely. a good example is they should slide in and out with 2 fingers before you replace the carrier and bolt it all back up.
