E90 335d = 281bhp, 428lb-ft, 0-60 5.9 secs, 42 mpg vs 10+ year old civic, if i could afford one i know what i'd be driving! anyone that says otherwise is either a liar or mad! FACT!

Makes sense technically, but personally IMO, (no offense meant to anyone personally, just my generalisation) I wouldnt drive or own a BMW if you paid me. I dont like the stigma surrounding them, same with most German saloon drivers Audi, Mercs etc... pull out without indicating, stick up your arse & think they own the road!! No way! (not in my world anyway) :):!::arrow:

I know what you mean! You are immediately branded by the car you drive! since buying the Saab I've been asked if I'm 50, where my flat cap and pipe are (glove box of course!), how my "Vectra" is! The list goes on!

True, never said they didnt, just using the example in general. :) Theres a few round by me too, but a favourite in this area has to be little french hatchs, like poogeots and sh1treons, especially 1.1's with spoilers and bean can exhausts! but if thats what they're into then they're entitled too, each to their own as they say.

I've got quite wet recently over c63 amg estates ;)

I'd have that over my civic

x2, Definitely the best bit of this mornings F1 qualifying was listening to the med car testing the track.

ok after having a new corsa for a few days in england i agrees new cars a great .. but looks i dont know

But you're not driving James, just moving yourself from one place to another. Modern cars are useful if there is no bus and you need to get somewhere in comfort with the security of airbags and listening to the radio. They are not going to enhance your life in most cases unless you are spending large amounts of cash (or are a scene junkie e.g. new mini/fiat500 drivers) on performance figures. I would possibly exclude Alfa and Ginetta/Caterham/kit cars from this, though they are just as likely to ruin your life as enhance it.

prob get lynched for saying this but i'd take a new car over my 12 year old deck anyday of the week! pretty sure if anyone could afford to buy/run a new motor they would! give me an BMW E90 tourer all day long, or even a tdi Passat estate...... actually pretty much any new deisel estate!

Yes most of us would but the reason would be because we wouldn't have to spend time thinking/ worrying about the car so much. A TDI estate is just a thing that does a job, it either works well or doesn't work (I am generally including my aerodeck in this modern category btw) it is not something by which you would define yourself or your lifestyle.

I would say that although I'm not a huge fan of the GT86/BRZ maybe new general market cars are beginning to head in the right direction again. This direction does seem distinctly retro.

Duno if i'm speaking for myself here lol, but I'd sooner shoot myself than drive a diesel or a new car. The horrible noises, s**tty smells coming out the back just dont do it for me. Fair play torque figures etc but no torque figures could make me buy a diseasel. Also after working at a honda dealership i hate seeing where new cars are going, i mean what does honda have to boast for now?? A Jazz? Honda sold out like the rest of the companies and only care about fuel consumption blah blah. Doing 50+ mpg doesnt put a smile on my face. Bring back the 90's era baby :D

Apologies for the rant, morale is down today lol.

I was in Brighton Honda the other week (waiting for them to find a bolt that is only used on about every Honda ever; that they then had to order  ). I was looking at the Jazz thinking wtf is wrong with that car- then I realised I am only 5'8" (and a bit  ) and I couldn't see over the top of it; its the size of a freaking minibus.

Also whoever came up with classic car insurance is a flippin genius!
