What car for £10k?

I'm thinking about selling my S3 this summer and put some money towards something a bit more exciting, so I figured I'd put it out there for some help.

If you had £10,000 and you could only spend it on a car, what would you get?

My own requirements would be:

- something exciting

- something good looking

- something fast, or at least noisy enough to make me feel like I'm going fast

- a bit rare/oddball

- RHD only

- preferably something a bit retro

- it's gotta be coooool!

- Edited to include manual gearbox

All pretty subjective requirements I guess lol

I don't care about mpg as I'll still be running the VTI-S as my daily, but it would be nice to have semi-reasonable running costs......saying that, I'm looking at R32 GTRs as a current potential replacement, although a nice once might now be over my budget :(

So tell me what you'd buy as I'm looking inspiration :)

I do love RX-7s but scare stories about the engines always frighten the beejesus outta me, whether justified or not lol

A P1 is a nice idea.  It'd be a possible good investment too.

I think the scare tactics are to stop people buying into them !

For me, its fear of not understadning the engine. I get 4 pots, i know how they work.. Know how to service, repair (to a certain extent) wankle engines on the other hand .... I understand the principle, but ive never taken one apart and this is how i learn how things work .. And would be too scared to i think too !! lol

Unless you have the wallet to take it to a specialist, i wouldnt take the chance..

P1's are my dream cars .. And your right, they will only go up in price if its kept in good nick ..

You can remove a fuse to make them RWD, seen it done before for a dyno.

Or for less money get the Gtst and whack a whopping turbo on it !

One of the requirements is rwd, yet on the short list r32 gtr?

RHD - Right Hand Drive :P

I had started thinking of something V8 and Yank but couldn't live with steering wheel on the wrong side
