  1. that looks badass frozzy! not seen a rocker cover done that way before! awesome.....loving the plug cover too
  2. did u put in the oven to cure mate? when i did mine i left it to air, took flipping ages and didnt wrinkle as much as i thought. gonna redo mine and oven dry mine for a hour.
  3. this picture the car is running on fumes!
  4. right, managed to get a quick measure for you James front 305mm rear 305mm both measured from centre of wheel to bottom of wheel arch. i didnt measure what the standard ride height was, was way too excited about getting the new springs on! if anybody know sthe standard height that would be cool to know. hope that helps mate (fuel tank on 2 lines from empty too)
  5. ill measure mine when im home buddy, i dont use the car for work at all. the springs (i was told) are 35mm all round, or shoul be anyway! ill get some measurements put up soon mate
  6. that is bit weird james....the springs i got were sport springs or something!? i wasnt given a choice of differen types when i ordered the....and u cant imagine the shoks would make a difference, unless the standard shocks on mine allow a bit more drop because they are not uprated?
  7. awesome work there matey! titan silve all the way...but get her lowered....just done mine on koni springs an it looks awesome! woul like to spray my wheels black, i think it works well with the black strips. how does the toyosport exhaust header fit? keep it up fella Dom
  8. cheers robert, she sits absolutely spot on, how i wanted her too....hopefully wont settle much more, maybe a tiny amount...hopefully at the rear more ARB is defo the next mod tho, will massively improve it
  9. been doing this stuff for a while, and working at a garage helps, but it really is all self taught tbh....there is only so much teachers and books can teach you, but get stuck in and you find out loads more
  10. cheers noodels....shocks should be fine, i think my phone camera has exaggerated things a bit, they certainly didnt look that bad when the springs were off....if they do go, Koni shocks will find there way on there im sure
  11. right, finally got my springs on last sunday , so here are some pics to do the talking start of with a BEFORE pic, outside my house covered in Jersey mud! got in before work officially opens on sunday to crack on....started on the rear, mainly because most civic`s, the rear shock absorber bolts are usually seized on them! so off with the ABS wiring covering the bolt head then try the bolt......and it undoes!!!! AMAZING!! then undo the rear upper tie bar, just to give it enough drop on the rear trailing arm to get the shock off the lower control arm then remove old versus new luckily new ones are idiot proof and how new one looks fitted its always worrying when you dont have to compress the new spring to get the top mount back on! then just fit upper tie bar back on and jobs a good`un. now the fronts mank! remove the lower shock bolt from wishbone, then i remove the fork from the shock to give more room to remove old unit. old versus new had to compress the new front one, not so much of a worry there! new spring fitted to shock whilst i was on the drivers side, i had to replace a split cv gaitor that i didnt have time to do before i went to Jersey. so just remove the bottom ball joint, crack large 32mm center nut, give lower wishbone a couple of hard whacks with large hammer, and the ball joint will pop out....lovely.....remove driveshaft from gearbox (dont worry about spillage, these things never leak from the hole you have just created) stick driveshaft in the vice cut off old boot, give the cv joint a hard whack with a copper mallet, and the end should just fall off. i have loads of spare genuine cv gaitors at work from our rally cars, so slide the new one on, line up split ring with groove in cv end, hit the end of cv joint with copper hammer till firmly home, fill gaitor up with grease, and cable tie back on...jobs a good`un slide it back into the gearbox and refit shock, shock fork, lower ball joint and large nut as expected, grease got everywhere, including the wheel, so gave it a bit of a clean now some after pics this was after taking off the ramp just after re-tracking it (and washing it!) these were after my 9 mile journey home and these are after a few days of driving round Verdict......mega pleased with the outcome sits perfectly, not too low at the front and still drives like its on OE shocks, just feels more planted and stable. super happy with the choice of springs after all the agro i went through before. and i really like the look of the stock wheels under those arches next mod defo has to MGZS ARB! cheers for looking everyone all comments and criticisms welcome Dom
  12. luckily i had adjusted it so it wasnt so loose, it defo would ahve jumped several teeth if i had left it. only drove a maximum of 20miles with it like it was, but i did give it some death on the way home! very lucky boy i am......
  13. cheers for that matey i will get lots of pics of the rally....well my missus will, i am doing the rally!
  14. after putting the pics of my work yesterday, i realised why the cambelt wasnt tensioning properly. where the tensioner sits there are 2 studs sticking out, 1 for the adjuster spring and the other for the opposite hole (right side of tensioner) on the tensioner. i failed to put it on the right side stud, therefore not allowing it to tension the automatic adjuster spring.....epic fail so rang the missus to bring car in to me, proceded to rip everything off AGAIN and found this if you look to the right side of the tensioner, you can just see the hole that a stud is supposed to poke through better pic of said hole so i took the cambelt off again, and if you look on the pic, there is a crescent shaped cut out where the tensioner bolts too, and there are 2 studs, one to the left and up for the spring, the other just to the right for the right hand hole on the tensioner so after rebolting the tensioner, it should look like this (if its possible to see with the crap photos) so after all that, the belt tensioned perfectly (what a surprise!!) all went back together and it still works!! what a bloody KNOB!!! anyways, wont make that mistake again.....
  15. right, finally got some progress with the `deck. went into work early to get started, got the oil drained and decided to start on the cambelt... everything going smoothly thus far! PAS belt removed and PAS pump moved out the way A/C belt removed ALternator belt removed Rocker removed, had a genuine belt still fitted THEN the b*****d bottom pulley bolt wouldnt shift !!!! had to get one the engineers who work behind me (who is massive!) to come and undo it!!! after that came off, it was quite simple to remove, just undo the tensioner and move it down to release the tension bloody bolt! changed the tensioner too for genuine part everything else looked to be in good order so got on with fitting new Gates belt went back together fine, but couldnt get it adjust properly, seemed way to slack on the top pilleys, and would probably jump a tooth if left, so adjusted it slightly unconventionally, but much better now, no panicking if its gonna jump or not! so after messing about with that for ages, got everything back in and on, wanted to change the cap and rotor arm, cap had 3 cracks init, and not sure when they were last changed anyway got the rocker back on, and filled with some MOTUL oil, and she started!!!! always a relief when they do that! 1"£££$££"!! so decided to do the brake pipes. after what stoatman said about his problems, i wanted to get this done soon as so if i needed to return them i could before it was too late. so, firstly the rears horrible! and after fitting the long pipes that come in the pack, decided they were way too long,so got the shorter ones and they went straight on! the banjo fittings have a slight curve to them, so that faces out, usse just one orignal fixing point and screw it into the copper pipe, bang on! bleed through, lovely and the other side then on to the fronts, they follow a similar route to the original rubber hoses, but again just use less of the fixing points, but are absolutely spot on once finished so after all the messing about, the car drives so much nicer now, use to have a slight hesitation when on/in vtec, but now just pulls so smoothly, and the brake pedal is AMAZING!! one of the best mods so far!! also got a pic of my new knob and gaitor and my EK`d headlights must apologise if the pics are crap, they are off my phone. off to Jersey this thursday for the rally over there, so havent done the springs yet, just in case i cant get on the ferry when its all loaded up once back tho i will get them on and give it a wash and post some pics in the new aerdoeck section! cheers for looking guys, all comments welcome as always! 1"£££$££"!!
