Going to rip out the air con on the mb6, the radiator still works but is looking a bit worn on the fins. Thinking of getting a full size rad that goes alls the way across the front grill. Anyone fitted a full size rad? Any fitment issues? What model of Honda rad did you fit?

Eibach E4024-140 Springs, MGZS or MB6 Shocks?
Hondamad1988 replied to Hondamad1988's topic in Chassis
Thanks Dave, Current set up: Mb6 with mgzs v6 shocks and springs all round. The rears are less than a year old bought brand new. Just picked up some Eibach Springs which where sold as having Mb shocks. The individual spring part numbers match to what Eibach list for the MB6 vti/MC AeroDeck but the shocks they are currently on are Delphi replacements. The fronts being listed as a 1.4 5 door civic, and rears listed for a Rover 45 1.8. I think the problem with the Mg V6 set up is the front springs are designed for the heavier engine. Quite a few people seem to have had good results with theses 30mm Eibach springs on Mg Zs v6 shocks so think I'll give it a try. Originally I thought the eibach springs would come with MB6 shocks which gave me a choice between Mb and Mg shocks. Due to the mix of shocks the springs have come with, i think it'll now be best putting the springs onto the Mg shocks. Any thoughts still welcome, I not sure how the 1.4 civic and 1.8 rover shocks would compare as an alternative. -
Eibach E4024-140 Springs, MGZS or MB6 Shocks?
Hondamad1988 replied to Hondamad1988's topic in Chassis
All right scrap the above, I spun out yesterday when i saw the numbers on eibach springs , but downloaded the eibach parts guide and the individual numbers lined up for the MB civic. The shocks however appear to be a bit of a miss match, the fronts are Delphi with L 51602 ST3 E11 written which im pulling up as a 1997 1.4 5 door civic. The rear have either RPD102930 on piston and RPD 108930 on bottom of fork which is vague on Rimmerbros just says MG Rover but seems to be trowing up as rover 45 1.8 16v rear shocks else where. Sounds like with above ^ I's be better off putting the springs on the MGZS shocks I allready have. Anyone got any opinions about above shocks? -
Eibach E4024-140 Springs, MGZS or MB6 Shocks?
Hondamad1988 replied to Hondamad1988's topic in Chassis
Well Best made plans and all that, the springs have actually come on Deplhi shocks, so need to to check which shocks they are from label, but could now potentially have 2 full sets of mg shocks plus the two spare passenger mg shocks I have in shed so spares shouldn't be an issue for a while. Thanks for input, quite a few people on this thread and previous threads seem to rate eibach springs on Delhi shocks, so hopefully all is well, Eibach say there suitable for standard or uprated shocks and whenever I've had uprated shocks before they have allways been shorter/ had shorter travel so hopefully shouldn't be a problem. Does anyone know how I convert the labels on the Mg shocks to parts number nothing seems like the actually part number on labels? -
I read through previous threads on similar topics, but just want to clear up some specifics. Picking up a set of OEM MB shocks with Eibach 30mm springs. We are currently running MGZS shocks and springs, front sits to high and never happy at higher motorway speeds, front seems too harsh and back seems too soft bouncing up an down too much. The rears are less than a year old, they say Delphi on them, are these OEM MG or cheap motor factor replacements? Anyway, I have a choice between fitting the Eibach springs with either MGZS shocks or MB6 shocks, and was wondering what the different outcomes will be. There has been some debate suggesting the Eibach's shouldn't be fitted to MG shocks because of there shorter travel, but the Eibach's will be shorter springs than original springs, and most Koni/ Eibach/ Spax kits etc come with shorter shocks. What kind of ride height, stiffness, and handling difference will there be between the two set ups? Another thought is MG stuff is generally out of stock most places now, but replacement MB shocks should be easy to pick up new from motor factors. Thanks in advance

Have you got and pics of car on this set up? Thinking of doing same as ride height on mg springs is terrible. Which eibach springs did you fit?

I'd say go for meisters straight away, I went for MGZS second hand shocks and springs, the rear shocks went so ended up buying a brand new set of rears from ebay. Now the front feels a bit s**te and I'm thinking I'd need brand new one's. So thats £85 for original set up, £140 for brand new rears, now thinking I need new fronts which are hard to find brand new for reasonable price. If do end up buying new front set up with all the money spent I may aswell have bought Meisters. Think what you want you want long time, I'm now wishing I have gone straight to Meisters, alot of others on here seem to have started on MGZS then upgraded. Buy once job done, you'll wont be spending your weekends changing nakard bits wishing you bought better bits, more time for riding the bike! Black trim on silver looking sweet! just need them wheels and get her lower!
-
Ended up going polly from super flex, toook flakey paint of bar and given it a few coats, I took the links off and bushes out, and have now discovered I need one new link and all the link bushes for both sides, starting to be quite a pricey job! Rover have stopped making bits!

The gearbox/diff on my mb6 seems to be making a horrible grinding nocking noise when on full lock or when pulling away with steering turned, it mostly happens with wheels turned to right. Can anyone reccommend a good place to get hold of a replacement? I bout some MTF to put in but it sounds to gone for that I think. Also trying to do find new support bearing for halfshaft but no joy.

I paid £100 through Tegiwa, I could of got one cheaper but the previous owner had a cheap one fitted and the CV was knocking after a month, so thought I'd try Tegiwa, no need to send old one back, and quick delivery. Think I've narrowed down wobbling to extremely warped rear brakes, I've also got some play in the support bearing which could attribute to the slight side to side feeling sometimes when at higher speed's. The parts list just keeps on growing, its supposed to be getting shorter!!!

Can't find any MGZS rear anti roll bar bushes Rimmer Bros have been on back order since June last year! No one else can source them. Has anyone found another 20mm bush that will fit?
-
I recently fitted a passenger side driveshaft from Tegiwa, the replacement came without a rubber balancer. The drivers side is possibly the original and has the rubber balancer on, will having one with balance and one without cause wobbling when driving/breaking?

Aerodeck tow bar fit an mb6?
Hondamad1988 replied to Hondamad1988's topic in Body/Electrics/Interior
What makes you say that Simpo? You thinking the Aerodeck one would just stick out more on MB6? -
Some people have too much time! No Kids or Woman would help too......

I had a look at them when they arrived, all seemed fine and in good condition, it was only when I came to fit I could see there was two passengers sides, it was advertised as a 'set' a set would be a drivers and passengers side taken from the same car, so hadn't expected anything different. I'd assummed (never good to assume) that they would have had an odd drivers shock or two lying around and noticed something was up. One of the shocks was missing its label were it says L. Regards to taking the one fitted back off, he could not explain why they couldn't just exchange the one shock. He then asked when I bought them and said they couldn't do anything. I asked why he didn't check this at start of call and apparently eBay and emails wasn't his side of things, essentially if I had of sent both back they would of still told me the warranty was up and I'd of just lost them and postage costs. I've sent another email to the ebay emails bloke, asking why he asked me to call if they were going to do nothing about it. Lesson learned on my part, dont buy parts and leave them two months before fitting. Ill look into PayPal protection, if all else fails ill try and sell on the two passengers sides, as passengers sides.

Thought I'd make other people aware of what has happened to me recently as alot of people may buy MG stuff from them off ebay. I bought a full set of MG ZS shocks and springs, and rear anti roll bar from these guys on ebay, I checked the package when it arrived and all looked fine, no leaks from shocks etc and all appeared to be there. It's taken me a couple of months to get round to fitting them, I fitted the passenger side first no problem, came to fit the drivers side and realized they had sent me two passenger side front shocks! I messaged them on ebay and they sent me there number to give them a call, they basically flat out refused to send me a drivers side shock. First they said I would have to send both shocks back which would mean taking the first one fitted back off, which I said was completely and utterly stupid as they would essentially be sending me one back again, then I said I would order another set, and then send two passengers sides back, which I was then told would be 'fraud', then they checked when I purchased them and because it was over 30 days the warranty and guarantee had run out so they would not do anything! I was gob smacked, any decent company would hold there hands up and apologies, and exchange a passenger side for a drivers side. I had to leave the call as it was getting know where the man on the phone was obviously just a monkey behind the phone asking his boss questions, total half bake, I asked him if he had even checked the emails I had sent on ebay and apparently that 'wasn't his department' I assume reading was his issue. I ordered another front set from somewhere else for £45 to get the car finished, they even had the cheek to try and get me to buy another set from them, I going to sit down and think of my next course of action. Altho the 30 days 'warranty' was up, as far as im concern a warranty is for broken parts, this was simply the wrong side, nothing wrong with the part looks in good nick. The fact they sell them as a 'set' having two passenger sides sent means they must chuck them in a pile off different cars and mix them up, so your not technically getting a set from one car, which is surely false advertising? Anyone got any ideas or tips for any laws I may have on my side? I bought them on the 31st of Jan, and first complained on the 31st of March

Finally got round to fitting MG ZS shocks and springs, my days what a difference!!!! Looked at fitting the rear arb but didnt have time to find some M10 nuts and bolts, the roll bar bushes look cracked and need replacing before fitting. Does anyone know where to get the rear bar bushes for a reasonable price? Also most of the paint is flaking off the rear bar, there must be about a mm or 2 of paint on there coming off, if the paint is coming off where the bushes go on will the bushes then be too loose? Can anyone recommend some paint to use to make the difference back up? or will the bush still be a tight fit? Last one: can I use the MB6 L brackets? or do I have to use the MG ones's, the bolts going into chassis look like they want to stay there!

I'm going to have ago at changing the power steering on the MB6 tomorrow, I have read the manual and it says remove the return pipe and put it in a bottle, start the engine, and turn the steering lock to lock untill the fluid stops running. My issue is that one of my mechanic friends has told me not to turn the engine on to drain the fluid because it may run the pump dry and damage the pump, but without the engine running surely the fluid wont drain out?

Big end gone same day as buying car!
Hondamad1988 replied to Hondamad1988's topic in Engine & Chassis
Seriously considering buying the other car, its local to me but it doesn't have a radiator and has a hole in the fuel tank so engine cant be tested, and its done 137,000 miles, my biggest fear is buying all the stuff to make other good ie engine flush, oil, filter, cambelt, water pump etc, spending the day fitting it, giving a couple of my mates some cash, then the other engine having problems aswell. Could ideally need to find a reasonably priced running car, just not having much luck at the moment. -

Hondamad1988 replied to Hondamad1988's topic in Engine & Chassis
It's looking like that, someone near me who was trying to break a car will let whole car go for 500 (minus radiator and rear bumper allready sold) so thinking it might be an option to buy that, swap engines, and sell what's left of spare one to recoup money back. Had a look at B20, I've seen Htune now sell the complete GE conversion kit, does that now make it as simple as just buying conversion kit and a B20 bottom end? -
Bad Times...... I bought my mums vti estate off her on sunday night as I thought it would be a nice upgrade over my 1.6 es estate. On the way home the engine started ticking/knocking anything past 2 thousand revs. I parked it up for the night and took it to my mate round corner in the morning, he got his stethoscope out and the noise is coming from the bottom end, judging from the type of knock its a big end bearing. Now the problem is what to do? The cars only done 137,000 miles and has been well looked after, so for the big ends to go would suggest oil pressure problem. I thinking it would be easier to get another engine and put that in, does anyone know of any breakers that would likely sell a known good engine?
