Recently purchased an absolutely mint mb2 , was a private sale with limited service history timing belt replacement unknown ,currently she's on 65k miles I've read in the manual timing belt should be replaced at 60k but my service book says 72k which is one correct ?

Hi and welcome aboard Claire, AFAIK a cam belt change is recommended @ 72K.

Rubber perishes over time so your safest bet is to have the belt changed anon.

Enjoy your very well kept MB2 :)

Hey and thank you :)

I think I'll get it replaced very soon then , at least then I'll know it's been done before the 72k mark for peace of mind.

Im sure I will , not a bit of rust anywhere , bodywork and interior hasn't got a mark or blemish ,was worth the risk even with the lack of FSH

Thank you for the advice :)
