Replacement Central Locking Key Fob??

Hi Gents

My 1.8 VTI central locking key fob has never worked since getting the car recently. Replaced the batteries but its just dead, previous owner says it never worked but he only owned it for 6 months. Far as I know my cars got the optional factory fitted alarm as theres a flashing red LED box to the right of the steering wheel next to the mirror adjustment switch, not sure if the alarm activates with just the manual key or if you need the fob. Honda want to bend me over and violate me for 230 quid for just a new fob, they did suggest I went direct to Valeo for a replacement but this is proving difficult. Anyone know of any replacements out there that would be under 100 quid?? Just want my remote central locking to work, if not fitting a new alarm system is the only alternative but seeing how i think theres one installed already just seems a bit of a waste not to mention expensive. Cheers in advance. Ben.

Cheaper to get an alarm fitted bud, you cannot get a fob that will work on your standard remote central locking or alarm except from Honda or Valeo. Anything else you buy (ebay etc.) WILL NOT WORK!! Even if the seller says it will, it wont!!

Or you can do what Dave says and get a remote and receiver (black dome by your interior light) from another car. I have a spare one I got from a scrappy as a spare just in case mine ever dies!! ;)

Cheers gents. Probly get a new alarm fitted at some point then. Just seems a waste installing a new alarm when theres one there but what can ya do. Doubt id find a new dome with fob from round here.

The price of thr remote's went up early this year, they are now nearly £200 + VAT. The remotes ARE NOT RE-PROGRAMMABLE, they are ordered to your car using a code that is on the back of your receiver. (black dome by your interior light) Any you buy on ebay will NOT work!! ;)

 thats shocking ad, eh! wouldnt be so bad, but the remote system on the m's is crap! You gotta be virtually sitting inside the bloomin car for it to work  Not that ruby as that problem........psh the button on the fob, she flashes her eyes...........from 100 paces! 8-)
