domandmel
I have read some interesting facts about Hamp products throwing somewhat a spanner in the works for the shortie filters ? Apparently the shortie filter is on for the s2000 and the euro r accord not for the civic, the Hamp is of lesser quality compared to the Honda genuine filters as the Hamp has 34 pleats inside the Honda 40 also the springs the pressure valves use are weaker than the Honda filters, so in conclusion Honda filters are worth 3 pounds extra IMO shorties not good for our applications. Just throwing it out there I'll be buying a genuine one next not Hamp. The honda ones were manufactured by toyo-roki of Japan same as the itr air box and according to a few reviews/articals are far superior quality so as Dave says Honda genuine stuff is better but you pay the price filters 11.99.One last thing don't be fooled into thinking Hamp products are race spec replacements their not simple as that they are lesser quality than oem.is that based solely on the hamp shortie filter mate? i have a normal Hamp oil filter on my `deck, and know lots of other people who have them fitted too, and they are meant to actually increase oil pressure. i have seen the shortie ones for sale, but would prop just stick to the regular tallie one
Guest
The comparisons i read x3 were all comparing Hamp Filters (made by Fram U.S) v Honda Originals (made by Toyo-Roki Japan)me personally would go with genuine Honda ones i currently have long Hamp on but next oil change im swapping for the Honda original Shortie marketed as S2000 and euro R filter, spoke to Derby Honda Lookers parts chap and he runs them on his DC2 has done for a long time they are about 11.99, see from what i understand companys who ake OEM parts are all for under cutting costs and Fram US have a real poor rep according to Yank Forums they have actually bought out a company called Honeywell so the can start manufacturing under a different name says it all really.please note these are only my opinions and things i have read they are not gospel some will say a filters a filter all i can say is i want to put the best parts on my car and thats seems to be the HOP option so be it.also what P1sses me off abit is that the Hamp synergy range is marketed like a Race performance part when its not even to OEM standards (i.e ADL Blueprint) i was totally shocked at this i fell for it.i think Dave will agree where possible HOP is best as he changed all his brakes for these cost alot but atleast you dont get jerked around by motorfactors. domandmel
we use ADL bluepring filters on our EG6 B16a rally car (have been for the last 10years) and also on our EG K20 rally car, and with the EG6, only had 1 engine failure (conrod decided to exit left from block!), and that car, whenever it gets a run, never sees below 7000 rpm for 10mins on the stages! i think that is quite a testament too ADL stuff too. maybe will revert back to them instead of Hamp, can get them at a decent price from work anyways. just my pennies worht too mate, each to their own an all that. thats why this forum is here, for us all to voice our opinions and help one another. Guest
Indeed ADL Blueprint has always been world class for me too Head gasket sets, rocker covers, Oil Filters and Track Rods all great OEM standards. Also use them on my bongo.i feel i may have got caught in the hype with Hamp stuff but 3 articles all on the same subject speaks volumes really. Guest
i will find them tonight just google Hamp v HOP or Hamp v Genuine Honda oil filters thats all i did there were 2 forum reviews and one article where some dude had disected athe two side by side and counted the pleats of metal inside and tested the strength of the Synergy valve springs to conclude that Hamp were Inferior to ADL Oem and HOP.i should have backed it up with proof just been busy mate.
