jalesi2001 Posted October 20, 2009 Share Posted October 20, 2009 If you dont replace the ECU, you may need the immobiliser control unit coded to your car, but you dont HAVE to change the ecu...i guess you would have to weigh up which is the cheaper route?! FREAKBOY Posted December 6, 2009 Share Posted December 6, 2009 Good to hear you sorted it out and just for information the immobiliser IS in the ECU as well as under the dash. If you open your ecu case you will see a small 10 pin chip board on your ECU (12 pin on '99+ cars) board in a slot numbered HIC1, this is the immobiliser IMMO-AO. Your keys hold a code which is read by the part under your dash which must correspond to the code held in the IMMO-AO chip in the ECU in order to start. IIRC the ecu part conrols the injector pulse and spark and the key/ignition part controls the starter motor.Clever, but an arse to get around when modifying.
