Sunroof external rubber seal?!

As per title, can this be removed in situ or does the glass or complete sunroof cassette need to come out?

My rubber seal has split along the front edge and needs replacing, just need to know whats involved if anyones done it?

Thanks

You may want to sit down for this one-

They cant be separated from or supplied without the glass. £375 + vat iirc when I enquired at my local Honda. You may want to find one from a breaker thats in a slightly better condition. Don't hold you breath though all the original seals on breaking cars will all be on their way out by now. I gave up looking and siliconed mine shut.

Okay, I MAY be able to help here.  I have the roof panel out of my car and it's in good condition and I was going to cut the seal off so I just have the glass panel to use for a template as I'm filling in the roof on mine with a solid panel.  I'm willing to swap it for one with a split seal ONLY if the glass and mounts are perfect.  It would seem a shame to cut up a perfectly serviceable sunroof if someone needs it.

Let me know, I'm in Swindon area most weeks, China the rest of the time so bear with me if I don't reply instantly!

Thanks Dave, sent you a message

If the complete sunroof needs replacing surely Rover 45 / MGZS would fit as most other body parts seem to swap over??

Does anyone know if these are the same as if so, then plenty of MG specialists / breakers out there, obviously newer model MG should be in better condition.

if needed tho you used to be able to get the seal. £54 from my local honda when i enquired.

maybe they discontinued them now??

Possibly just no longer available, my problem may of course have been Brighton Honda being rubbish- it might be worth having a phone around or asking John Banks. I was surprised that it couldn't be replaced because it looks like it just pulls off.

Quite likely- all the other windows are the same pattern. Not actually tried it myself though.

Other windows are the same for sure, my perspex window kit and heated screen are all made for the Rover except the rear quarters and screen on the MC and they fit perfectly.  It's almost a shame they never made a MG ZS-T so I could buy a solid roof skin!!

DeLaSoul to the rescue!!    8-)

Thanks Dave for coming over and swapping your good sunroof for mine and helping me fit it.

Surprisingly easy and quick to do, now I've got no worries with a leaky seal.

Top man!!
