Forgot to say, I still have some of these:

Unsure if they'd fit without modding. Some threads say yes, some say no.

The speakers are 6.5" across with bolt holes 6" apart, and plenty of them.

Total depth is 50mm.

Well these arrived today. Seemed okay at first.

Problem, the hole don't match up. I can get 1 and a bit lined up but the last one and a bit just seems a few mm off.

Not too bad, I can just screw into the MDF.

But nothing seemed to line up at in in the car? Am I supposed to take the inner bowl out? I still couldn't find anywhere suitable to screw into..

In fact the inner diameter seemed way too big... but if it was any smaller I doubt I'd fit the speaker through.

Eventually I found a way to get the holes to line up with the speaker which is nice.

but please DO tell me if I'm doing anything wrong! I'm just guessing here :)

I'm not sure if the pre-drilled holes are to screw the adapter to the car or the speaker to the adapter...

Hmm, I'm not sure it will work with this MDF piece. You should remove the old inner plastic thing, you don't need it. On the door there are four holes for screws, see if you can drill holes in the MDF to match those on the door. I doubt it but give it a try. Or maybe drill new holes in the door to match the MDF. Here's how it looks on mine, but my MDF is specifically for my car.

Balls, in that case these generic adapters are no good. I couldn't line anything up :(

Oh well, £4. At least we know, add them to the list of "does not work" :P

Now I see yours, I know what to look for ;)
