PsychoDogBeast
Hi there allWell its been a great day today with old Cindy Civic.Me and my mate got the rear suspension on this morning, once again it was a pain in the ar*e but that was down to my car having 10 years of rust on it lol.The car didnt sit right, the drop on the rear was far too high and didnt match the drop on the front, id say about 55mm at the front and 30mm at the rear, we cured this by stripping the rear suspension down again, clamping the top 3 coils, heating them up and squashing the springs by around 15mm, this got the car sitting right (my mates a lowering nutter). The car now has a great stance, i was really concerned about how low it was to the ground but on 16", 45 profile tyres, but it drives great, the ride is firm but comfortable, it clears all the speed bumps around our area and we got some real bad ones. The car now handles like its on rails, i drive my MB very hard and never really liked the top heavy ride it used to give me, its been a long time since a car has put a smile on my face and i got one on my way home this evening Can safely say the Konis are a good buy, they could have done with been 10mm higher but for the cost i can live with it.Pictures belowCheers James

mb6vti
As I have said in previous posts the front drops down alot and the back does not. And my eyes are not deceiving me then it looks like thats what has happened in the photos above. Only thing you can do to level out the drop in ride height is to drop the back onto the lower spring seat perch. My mate has the same kit on his car and the front was very low and the back about 20mm higher than the front. Hence the reason I went for 30/35mm drop springs.

PsychoDogBeast
MB6vti, i managed to get the back sitting roughly the same as the front by clamping the top 3 coils of the rear suspension in a vice and heating up and compressing them, it looks much better now, i will get some decent photos up when its a bit lighter outside, the photos i put up are a little decieving, the clearance betweeen the front and rear arch lips on my car are around 15mm at front and 20mm at rear, before the heating process the clearance at rear would have been around 50mm.with the rear springs as normal, the car looked pretty naff jacked up at the back end, the rear drop was almost like the standard honda springs and the front of the car was dipped down so low it would have been pretty undrivable around speedbumps and potholes.Ive driven to work in it today, (about 10 miles) around some terrible roads with big speed bumps and had no scraping issues, car handles much better and the shock absorbers are nice and stiff but the ride is still pretty soft and comfortable. If Koni could get the springs (as they come in the package) to sit 10mm higher on the front and drop the rear an extra 30mm this would be the 'cheap' suspension package we are looking for.Hope all this info helpsJames
mb6vti
Thanks for that info james. For comparison I bought the same Koni SS Kit but sold the koni springs. I instead bought cobra progressives. The front arch sits about ~10mm above the tyre and the rear ~20mm. Compare that to my mates civic where his front was 3mm and rear was still 20mm and this was using Koni Shocks and Springs.
