Car wouldn't start for me today, turned out the petrol ran out, the petrol light didn't come on and the needle was sitting above empty, I topped up a Jerry can and put it in the car, she started more or less streight away, I really am starting to think it's the fuel pump! because the car was ok the last time I drove it no signs of it running low on fuel, also it seems the car has a hard time starting when under 1/4 full. Fuel pressure test this week I think! What numbers should I be looking for?

This is what I've done to try and solve the issue. I've changed the, fuel filter, injectors, both O2 sensors, genuine CAT, dizzy, dizzy cap, coil, rotor arm, HT leads, spark plugs, air filter, map sensor, IACV, cleaned TPS, checked for air leaks, may have missed a few things out... But yeah what ever I do isn't helping and its costing me a decent bit a money! Anyone got any ideas as I'm confused.

Well things haven't been going too well with my little MB.. The car is throwing P0171 system too lean bank 1 and P0170 fuel trim bank 1 malfunction, the car lacks a lot of power and is bogging down badly to the point where I have to be gentle with the accelerator to make the car drive, the car hits redline at 5k and falls on its face, just seems like the fuel cuts off

On a better note I no longer have EML light on, but it should be running and sounding like it does!

thanks for the input mate aprechiate it, I've never experienced this issue with a honda as I always decat them but this is the first one I've had with 2 O2 sensors, I'm going to buy a cat and hopefully it sorts this problem, because the second O2 sensor it on the decat pipe with out a spacer so it's probably this that's the problem, I'll buy a cat and see what happens.

Also previous owner informed me that EML light fist came on after he had a decated streight through exhaust fitted, I've returned the exhaust system back to standard apart from the CAT, I wonder if the de-cat that's making this issue

that idea did come into my head, but I don't think using an angle grinder is a good idea lol

that's what I thought but some old mechanic I know said that because my lil 1.4 is decated both of the O2 sensors could be giving mixed readings, thus making the engine throw the p0171 engine too lean bank 1 code. I also fitted a resonator box in today and it made a difference, I really am starting to think it could be the de-cat.

The car doesn't have a resonator or a cat, but I doubt that would be the issue as other members would have the same problem?

I've had a look under seats and can only find the float, carnt fund the fuel pump

I'm 90% sure it's fuel related because that's what the engine seems to be lacking, the old fuel filter was filthy when the left over petrol came out. Also there was some while stuff in it that looked abit like silicone, I take it to change the fuel pump it's a tank out job?

no I haven't tried another ecu yet, I'll give it a go

It was still doing it before I changed any parts mate, I have changed out the iridium plugs for ngk originals, didn't help one bit and every morning the car seems harder to start, like today when it took a good cranking over and finally started and revved streight to red line with out one misfire then bogged down streight away after that.

Went garage today for a replacement dizzy... Hasn't done nothing more cash wasted!

I swapped out the injectors with ones I know that work, and I took the throttle body out the car, and used more or less a whole can of carb cleaner, a lot of black stuff came out but didn't improve it one bit. I also used genuine denso O2 sensors I know aftermarket ones are no good, could be fuel pump but I don't like messing about with that stuff, I think it's time to go to a garage

I really am starting to lose it with this car I suffer with some mental health issues, and I've just smashed up things in my house because of this s**t car!

have checked everywhere for vacuum leaks, there isn't any, and the manifold has no cracks
