Get a Golf GT TDI 130 bhp for that sort of money, they go to about 170 bhp with a remap, fast and economical.

Yeah i think you are right, sensor must have fooled the ECU into thinking the engine was cold when at running temperature.

Sorry noodels i should have been a bit clearer, vtec worked before, i fitted the new ECT sensor and straight away it didnt work, put the old one back in and vtec works again, its the sensor on the gearbox side of the head next to the temp gauge sender. Oil is full and car was hot,i never reset the ecu though.

Anybody know if the ECU temperature sensor for a 1.6 VTI is the same as a MB6 one?. I thought they were all the same but i got one of ebay that said in the listing was for a 1.6, i fitted it but my Vtec stopped working. Cheers.

Aye i thought they would be a bit quicker too, easily made quicker though, the other thing with them they are very common.

The new Focus ST is a 2.0 Dave, the old one is 5 cylinder. The old ST is around 225 BHP and the RS is around 305 Bhp. A guy i work offshore with has the new ST estate Tom, he gave me a lift from Inverness to Aberdeen and back for our last trip. I was well impressed.would turn your opinion of the blue oval!.

Focus ST is a great car, awesome handling, brakes and 5 cylinder turbo Volvo engine. On the down side they are more expensive to run than a MB6, i know a couple of people who have had ST's and they said theirs were heavy on fuel.

Wow £38 is a bit steep, my mate got me a new one off ebay for £15. The guy he got it off reckons they are not available in this country. He needed one for his own car so imported 4 of them and was selling the other 3 on ebay. I read your project thread for MB6, i was gutted when i got to the end and you scrapped it.

I don't get the stance thing either, maybe im just getting old!. these stanced cars surely can't be driven like that on a daily basis?.

At least no matter what you decide to do you will still have your Deck, different story if you had to sell it to fund a new project then regret selling it.

keep your Aerodeck as a daily driver and do a EF Sedan project like James was saying. Its something a bit different, Your Deck is a cool car in its own right, or go all out on the deck you have and buy another as a daily driver.

Tidy motor James, pity you are getting rid of your MB it looks the business with them wheels, shame its never won car of the month, it deserved to for the originality factor.

Thanks James, air filter was on it when i got it so i dont have the standard air box.

New PCV valve fitted, seems to have cured the blue smoke out of my exhaust when revs drop out of vtec.

I would love to one day re-shell my mb6 into a mint shell.

I have had a similar problem, smelt like oil dripping on my exhaust with no visible leak, i also had blue smoke from exhaust when dropping out of vtec. I read up that the PCV valve can sometimes cause the smoke from the exhaust. I left my car at my mates while i was away offshore and he had a look at the PCV valve, it fell apart when he took the hose off it. He got a new one off ebay and fitted it. The blue smoke seems to have gone and there is not oil smell anymore. The flap in the old valve was sticking and i reckon oil was dripping from it on to my exhaust. eh no!, i think it might have already been broken because i was getting a smell like oil on the exhaust occasionally when i slowed to a halt after giving it some stick.

Left my car at my mates while im away offshore, he went to clean out my PCV valve for me but it fell apart when he took the hose off it! New one ordered hopefully it arrives before i get back on thursday!.
