4.4 is still good but the acceleration with the 4.7 is unreal,

higher the final drive the faster the acceleration

the way i see it is when do you realistically need to go above 100 anyway, its not how fast you can go,its how long it takes you to get there

4.4 final drive gives you 23% more available torque than a 4.2

so by fitting a 4.7 you effectivly gain 60odd % more available torque over the s9b

They are available with lsd.

But mine doesnt have lsd.

I can live with the torque steer etc.

Im not convinced lsd makes any real difference.

Ive owned prelude, and I turboed a corsa years ago and they both drove fine without. So fingers crossed its ok.

uk has s80 but only with a 4.4 final drive

The UK tegs all have the 4.785 drive.

A quick test is to see what the serial number on the barcode is stamped with.

It's not offical, but it's served me well in the past.

If it starts with a 3 then it's the 3rd year of production, so should be a 98 spec box.

All UK tegs that I've seen start with a 3. The import ones start with a 1 from 96.

I'd rather have the S9B ratios with the torsen LSD than go for a Y21 with 4.4FD and no LSD or a worn out viscous one.

If the box doesn't have a sticker on it, is there any other marking on it that would indicate its an S80?
