Gav_ek4
took me 2 hours of constant hose squeezing and topping up to get coolant into the matrix on my mb6 when i changed the stat, in the end up i had to remove the hose from the heater valve on the bulkhead and fill the matrix with a funnel to get it bled...this was using boiled water to mix so the thermo opened on filling and eith the nose of the car up on ramps so gravity could do its job and help coolant into the matrix...b18s are a b*****d to bleed and it takes ages to do prop
beaniexx
seen before where the water pump blades actually come away from the pump which causes the water not to be circulated properly?also is the inlet pipe to matrix hot and outlet cold? if yes matrix could be blocked? simpo
so it was the head gasket?
IceMan
dont know for sure but with heating restored and the temp gauge reading norm a call to the garage says that its looking quite likely though they couldnt detect it. They said this is a sign that it may have finally let go. £500 quid for gasket , belt and labor they recon. Yikes at 125k im thinking no thanks but it would seem such a waste of a brilliant car
