ScottishCivic
Hey, this is going to seem like such a noob question to you guys, but I'm trying to remove the original (tape!) Pioneer radio from my civic and it's just not coming. There is a lot of play in it but it's just not coming out. Is there anything I need to remove from these original radios before it will come off? I have an R-reg civic (and an S reg one right beside it lol) if that helps any. I managed to get the custom radio out of the S-reg civic fine, but I can't seem to get this original to budge. I can get pics of the radio if that helps anyone
NIKH25
Do you have the keys to unlatch it from it's cage, if not try a small thin knife (carefully) to press in the catches on either side.
ScottishCivic
I've got some key things that are supposed to latch onto each side of it? Should I be pressing them in instead? I can get a connection on the right hand side, but the left one is trickier
NIKH25
Should just slot in and click home, sometimes have to wiggle it about to free it from the cage though, should come out with some perseverance, keep trying if not you'll have to have the centre console out Does it pull out slightly on the side that's locating? If so pull that out as far as you can and try and keep it there while working on the other side
Dave
They can be fiddly, both coming out and also fitting the new one in (that will deff try your patience! We have a how to tho so check that out for tips ) If you can get it sliding out a little bit, then take the keys/pin things back out and reinsert them, wriggling both them and the radio mate and it should come out. ScottishCivic
It's honestly not budging. I can get it to come out a millimetre or 2, but then it seems to catch on something and won't budge. To make matters worse I took 4 screws out of the radio unit which will not screw back in so I don't even have a working radio atm .Is there anything that might be causing this or is likely to be stopping the unit from sliding out? I'd rather not start lifting out the whole dash and all that so atm I'm considering just taking it to Halfords (or the local estate) and getting them to do it. simpo
doesnt some radios have a nut at the back of the stereo holding it in?
NIKH25
doesnt some radios have a nut at the back of the stereo holding it in?Yes, some do but if it moves even a tiny bit I can't imagine it would be bolted up, also I don't think there's enough space in there, very tight It sounds like the cage is holding it in, you need to get something like a small thin pallet knife to slide down the side and bend the cage away from the unit. I bet what it catching is the ISO from the loom as there is only a tiny hole for it to fit through
