Mr Brown
LOL when i was cabbing i owned a petrol 1.8 RT Sport Laguna (only a 8 valve) and it was sweet, after i killed her LOL i used the company cars to cab in i rememebr doing a airport job and neither of the two duelfuel vectras that i used to drive were available and i got the 1996 diesel (2.2 i think) non turbo laguna estate, what a nasty rubbish slow engine and boy the ugliest estate i have ever seen
Krzys
imo japenese don't really make very good disels. Im not a diesel person and would not personally buy one (stuck in my ways LOL) but from what i have heard avoid Jap (with a few exceptions), French (at all costs) The only Jap diesel I've had experienced was a Nissan Primera my dad had, 2.0l without a turbo, it was slow as hell but never had a problem with it! feck_on_a_stick
Would you consider an LPG'd car? That way you have all the advantages of a petrol but with extra economy. The higher RON of LPG can also give you a few more ponies

That way you have all the advantages of a petrol but with extra economy. The higher RON of LPG can also give you a few more ponies I did have a 4.0 v8 discovery once, that was lpg, i actually used to find power dropped a bit using lpg but was good saving on fuel in those days. Ive heard the price of lpg gone up alot since then so not so good. Also my mechanic says hes done a few valve seat jobs on various lpg converts, although I know you can get a autolube system meant to help with this
jamestopdog
A post script note to the above, just had a quick look on ebay for lpg cars the first one I looked at (a Subaru) done 51k qnd had valve seat recession problems! Hmmm swerve them then!
feck_on_a_stick
I'd a few friends run lpg with no hassles, but they were all VAG engined. If you've heard bad reports then probably best to avoid I do remember reading once though that all Subarus and Jag V6s are particularly susceptible to VSR problems as well as some Hondas and Fords.
Krzys
Yeah LPG prices have gone up but is still around half the price of petrol. I like the idea of LPG but to me it's another thing to go wrong. I guess it's a case of check for a certificate to say it's been done properly and check it's been looked after along with the car.
Mr Brown
The duelfuel vectras i drove that i mentioned above came from the factory like that and were reliable as hell so i would say if i were to go lpg i would prob only go oem
