Had an idea, but the problem is when I can do it because of spending all day at work and it being dark when I get home.

 

I want to pull the fuel line off where it meets the rail to check what state the fuel is as it reaches the injectors, I'm expecting red in it from the injector cleaner I put into the tank but as long as it's not any other colour I would think the fuel is "clean".

 

If it is and I can get the car to run I'm going to attempt to take her for a run up and down a duel carriageway, if I can get her there she tends to do alright as there's no strain, then run the cleaner through and tank up with VPower and some more cleaner added and see what happens? If she is still the same then I will look at the ignition side!

 

It's a good idea before you start pulling it all apart.

 

Take some time off, I'm pretty sure no one will notice. :lol:

They probably won't! :lol:

 

I took out breakdown cover this morning (it ran out just after crimbo) just in case my plan goes t1ts up and I end up stranded somewhere! But from what I can tell it's strain on the engine which seems to cause it and its funny that if you hold the revs at 3k and gun she, she reacts as she should, but do the same from say 2,500rpm and she just dies, unless you lift off then after a second of two she'll come back before the revs drop low enough to stall...

Strange, could be ignition then.

If it's not the fueling, (Ie if the fuel isn't brown out of the filter) then I'll order a cap, rotor, plugs and leads and see what happens, then if it's still bad I'd get a coil and module. If after that it's still bad, a gallon of fuel and a lighter :lol:

Reserved myself a set of ignition testers to go between the HT lead and spark plug, it's a set of four so I can see them all together and see if there's anything noticable when I get her to play up! Guess you have to start the investigation somewhere!

When you find the fault there will be quite a few relieved pepes mate..Hopefully it will happen sooner rather than later, fingers crossed for you

Cheers dude! As long as I can indentify roughly where the problem lies, ignition, fueling or otherwise I will then know what bits to start looking at rather than just wildly guessing! My head is spinning with ideas of what it could be! Need to start eliminating things!

We'll today proved to be a waste of time and money, the tester I bought is no good as the plugs are too deep so I wouldn't be able to see them, then the car wouldn't start anyway so no hope of taking it for a run or even do the testing anyway...then realised I don't even have the right tools to even remove my plugs to check them! Ugh I feel like I'm between a rock and a hard place! I can't afford to buy anything either!
