spudley1988
How ya doin folks. Not had my mb6 for too long but when i got it i had put 5/40 fully synthetic motul in and car hardly touched a drop. I done another oil change about 3k miles ago but had to use 5/30 fully synth Comma oil as funds were tighter. Now its used a bit of this comma stuff, could it be due to thinness? poorer oil quality or could it be due to me having my v-tec engagememt set at 3600 so any long distances a decent length of time could be spent in v-tec. Mr Brown
our engines do use oil but as you said yourself the better the quality you will find you use less but whatever i would not worry about it though...
burbleboy
The vtecs generally like to run a thicker oil than 5 40. I use 10/40 Millers Fully synthetic in mine and have no bother having previously ran 5/40. Stick with the recommended oil of 10/40 and you will be ok! simpo
As above I run 10-
spudley1988
Going to do another change within a week or so, shall bang some 10/40 fully in and take it from their. Thanks guys
Grant
I run 5w40 fully and it's not touched a drop so far. 10w 40 semi is what honda recommends though. You probably burned some due to the crapness of comma oil
spudley1988
Was going to go 10/40 fully as prefer full synthetic personally. Yea mate comma is utter pish. Sooner i get it out the better lol
NIKH25
It's probably a little bit of both mate, as said Honda recommends 10w40 but they will run 5w40 it will tend to use more of that if you have higher miles also. Might be worth trying some higher quality 5w40 and see how that goes.
spudley1988
Yea was running 5/40 motul and it seemed to run fine. Didn't know anything about comma oil bit it seemed better than halfords own s**te lol. Will order up some more motul on payday
Grant
Fuchs is good quality mate. I've used it for almost all my cars, reasonable pricing too.
