feck_on_a_stick
I've been poking and prodding round my boot trying to find the source of my leak. I took this pic the other day as a potential candidate but last night I did see a noticable water trail coming from one corner of this whatchamacallit. Any idea how water could be getting in? My rear wheel arch lining is still there, but would that be where water would get to that area?
Krzys
Looks like a vent of some sort, I can't identify it in the service manual though...
feck_on_a_stick
Yep it's def some sort of vent with a thin material on the inside. It's on the left hand side of the car just below the rear light cluster. I've no clue what it could be for apart from somewhere to let air circulate should I want to lock someone in my boot
KiNK43
It's a vent to allow a little airflow in a bid to stop condensation. Doesn't do its job very well.. as condensation inside the arches is often what causes them to rust inside out.Could probably do with a vent the other side but there isn't one
feck_on_a_stick
Funny as if I run my hand along the inside of the rear of the car where the vent is, it's covered in condensation towards the arch ffs.
Krzys
I would be thinking hit it with sealant? But is that really a good idea?
feck_on_a_stick
Maybe hit it with sealant round the edge of the vent and see how that goes
Krzys
Can't hurt! Be sure to dry out the area you find condensation too!
