What to look for?

Hi folks, if anyone's read my mb6 build thread you'll see if had a bit of a bad time with the engine :( needing a bigger family car and iv spotted a aerodeck a few miles from mine for £500. It's not and tax is up at the end of this month so I'm hoping that will work as a good bartaring tool. It's a 1.6 and I plan to either break my mb and transfer the good bits over or overhaul the engine

What things should I look out for on the deck? Hoping I can knock him down for the short tax and test, and there's a scuff on the front bumper. Mileage is 88k, year is 2000.

Cheers

Martin

Cool cheers guys. Is there a web site you can go on to check previous mots? Would I just need the reg or is it the reg document number?

Excellent thanks guys! Hopefully use that to my advantage.

I used it to find out my MB3 has had many dodgy MOT's in the past!

Just in from the viewing. Couple wee scuffs as to be expected but no rust. He said brakes would need doing for mot, they work fine I just think it's the rears that need looking at. Heard a clunking noise when turning so when I got back I checked the cv joints, both front outers are burst. All electrics were good apart from the common heater blower. All in all it's not too bad, going to check insurance and see if it's cheaper than the mb. I could then rape the mb for the parts to make the deck sound but it's a tight timeline as it's not and tax both run out at the end of May. He wants 500 but I'm thinking of trying him with 350, as the work needing done and the tax and test. What you guys think?
