1. I bet it's JDM style tail lights! She's looking good Dave, and the photos are sweet. See, your getting all arty farty with the new cam! lol it's adictive!
2. Ok, not done any more mods to Ruby lately, but glad to say she's back on the road! She's been laid up for around a month and a half with a knackered rear wheel bearing. Got a brand new one from Gav vti_vroom (cheers mate! ) and with a hand from Paul Bladerider929 we got it fitted. Whole job was a doddle, and we were surprised how easy all the bolts freed off! Even the small screws on the brake disc were easy to undo We also fitted a air con belt tensioner pulley (thanks to ash-dseries for this bit!), as mine fell off not long after I bought her (garage that did the service on her has a lot to answer for ) Fitting this was a blooming pig of a job! In the end we had to take off the power steering pump to get enough access to fit the pulley and belt. Got there in the end though! Unfortunately, because I havent used the aircon for around 7 or 8 months, when we turned it on, the fan on the aircon radiator seized up and bloody sheared off!!!! Was Dawn that spotted this, as we heard a horrible noise, a bit smoke, but had no idea where it came from lol So new fan is on the way, then its fix the blow in the exhaust and that will be her ready for mot at end of July. Must say its brilliant to be able to drive her again! I've been missin her! Will be getting the kits all painted up soon, then lowering methinks will be next
3. Cheers man! Yeah, not a bad job at all! I always worry at mot time, stems from having cortinas and escorts! lmao. worry time for ruby and dawns deck next
4. I was a bit nervous of the mot, thought she would fail as she'd been laid up for almost a year. The rear brakes were locking up as i mentioned on msgr, so though they would fail. Took her for a wee run before the mot, and it freed everything up nicely. Got the call saying she'd failed............2 windscreen wipers and the centre brake light bulb! Was like yaaaas!!! Bught new set of blades, replaced the bulb and now she has her MOT. So happy man! And she's just proved herself agian to be such a credit to us, she'd never ever failed an mot since she was new, and that one was just trivial stuff! The mot guy even commented how good condition she was in, and he was amazed that she was as good as that considering being sat parked up for so long. He also said that the Civic M's were one of the best cars Honda built, as they rarely go wrong! We're calling dentmaster tomorrow, see how much it would cost to fix the dent in the bonnet. If it's not too much, just gonna get it done, as she deserves it! The bonnet looks really good mate, well happy with the finish I got! I'm kinda paying the price though, still bloody smelling the paint fumes even now!
5. Thanks Dave! She's looking good now, really chuffed with the finish on the bonnet. Meant to add she's also wearing her original alloys now. Drove her today to the MOT station, and she's driving perfectly. Sadly, this projects come to an end now as shes for sale now Someones gonna get a cracking MA8
6. Wee update..........she now has her bonnet in blue at long last! and finally, Betty, Ruby and if you look closely, Dawns Aerodeck Family Photo lol
7. Dying to see this gril fitted!!! gonna look sweet as!
8. Get him told Sarah! Hehehe, not my turn to get picked on lol. C'mon Dave, get to work and stop keeping Sarah waiting!
9. Ok, though i'd better update this! Not got the photos of the exhaust to hand, but will show you what I've been upto the last few days! Decided it was time to make a start on Dawns VTIS kit, so we have one bit completed so far (would have done the whole kit but was doing some other spray work so didnt have time.) Voila! One front vtis lip! It's only trial fitted in the photos, got a whole load of clips to fit to the bumper now! Totally transforms the front of her Deck! Will get some photos of the exhaust next!
10. That looks amazing Dave! Wondered at the time what it would look like when you said you were doing it black, and must say looks awsome. Superb finish on it aswell! Is the laquer a satin/matt finish or gloss? Liking it with the matt/satin look. PS: Dawn says looks brilliant. When you coming up to paint and fit hers as Im taking too long!
11. Nice one babe! It does sound sweet! Dave, should see her face now when she hears that exhaust! Smiles from ear to ear! I'll get some pics up for you and a wee video
12. Just a couple of bolts if youre taking the brackets from the rover aswell, or one bolt if its just the horn I took the bracket with one of the horns (cos theres two obviously) so put one on the honda bracket, and used the other bracket for the second one. Only tricky bit is getting them off the rover, as the bumper needs shiffting to get into them, but fitting on the honda is mega easy, nothing needs taken off (except the original squeaky horn lol )
13. almost forgot, also changed the gay honda horn for twin horns from a rover 400. No meore meep meep excuse me horn now..........more of a "GET OUTTA THE WAY" Gene Hunt Stylee!
14. Yeah it does mate! I was a bit concerned that it wouldnt tbh, as most short ariels have a helically wound coil (see, may days of CB'ing in the 80's did eventually come in handy!) . You can see the wire under the plastic on most, spiralling up the ariel, which means the wirse is longer than ours, cos ours is just straight from the bottom to the top. I've only noticed a very slight drop in signal, but thats on stations i was struggling to get in the first place. I wasnt too fussed tbh, as i never listen to the radio anyways lol always got my MP3's on!
15. Latest mod. Only a small one, but makes a nice defference to the looks. And thanks to DAVEMB2 for this mod lol, saw it in his thread a while back! Right, was looking for ages for an ariel from an MGZS, as they are slightly shorter than the standard MB fishing rod thats on the roof! Couldnt find one, and hated the aftermarket ones, which sometimes dont fit right, so....................................................... unscrew,Chop chop, squeeze,pull,stick,screw....................jobs a good un! Modified the original mb6 ariel, so nice short length now, and still oem fit Much better!
16. lol, was mega lucky, my mate spotted it in a breakerso got it for me, think it was a fiver! Yeah, was lucky to find her, was originally going to look at a vtis, but it was older, more miles, smashed fogs...........and the garage were really crappy to deal with. Spotted this and couldnt believe the miles/condition! She had a couple of niggles (thermostat, plus a garage that serviced it made a balls up of it and the oil filter fell off!!! Luckily, wasnt going fast, or it would have totalled the engine!) and now needs new tyres/exhaust, which every car needs anyways. Love her to bits, puts a smile on my face every time i drive it!
17. Who's been a busy boy!? She's looking tops Dave, good work! Looking forward to seeing her at the meet. Youve done a top job on the rear tinted lights aswell! Haha! Love the wee car washing smilie Rich!
18. C'mon man! The suspense is killing us! What have you done to her!!! We demand pics!!!
19. Ok, thought I'd put a wee update in. Not done much lately due to weather/being busy. Things she's had are the clear side indicaters changed for smoked ones, which look really good with her colour. Most recent addition was today, in the shape of some nice VTiS mats (Cheers Ryan!) She's had her first decent valet of the year, which included the usual washing/drying, then T-cut to get rid of grime/swirls, finished off with 2 coats of turtlewax ICE (first time ive tried this, usually use mcguires, but the ice is superb!) Also got her interior all vaccumed out and freshened up.And fitted the centre console cup holder! Theres a wee mod you can do to stop the damn lid popping up (as im sure any of us thats fitted these will now have noticed that it does!). I'll pop a wee how to up when i get the chance.....this ones simples! Still got to give her another coat or two of ice, followed by a couple of coats of turtlewax original car wax (some new stuff theyve brought out thats in an olde world tin) Also in the middle of getting Dawns Aerodeck done, as its been needing it just as much as ruby! Plus, getting Betty ready!!! lol it's all go here at the moment, getting the driveway sorted out tomorrow, so should have a nice sore back by tea time! lol Still looks like we live in the "Hous of Honda" with all these M's in the drive lol Pics to follow
