    Aye, was sick of the sight of them mate, more chips than paint! Still to finish prepping the spoiler as DD was called to duty yesterday.....moving a bed for one of Faith's friends! Roof rack on and job done. Forgot how useful this old girl is! The place we were moving is about an hour and a half from here, so nice long run for her. I was shattered on the way home, so had to pull over and let Gayle drive the rest of the way home. She loved driving DD, said she's so lovely to drive😎

    Been busy as had a day off from work and the sun was shinning! Decided to get DDs front VTiS spoiler off to get it ready for respraying. Also got a replacement bumper to do and the bonnet but they're getting done later this year. The spoiler was bugging me as it looked crap, more stone chips than paint! Gayle got me a new orbital sander for my birthday on Tuesday past, so put it to the test. It's bloody awesome! It's got quite a small head so perfect for the curves etc on the spoiler. Half way there... Had to stop as its now tea time and its baking hot here so needed a break. Also went under her and got all the excess power steering fluid that had leaked out from the rack. Was a right old mess! Gunk to the rescue! Leak hopefully now cured too. DD sporting her temp "spoiler-less" look. 😁 She looks bloody naked! Although still better than the scabby looking spoiler.

    Yes mate, a photo of both those engine wires would be good so we can identify them for you. Regarding the alternator it's the 3 pin plug and it's connections. Can't remember if the alternator has the female connection or the plug, but I would give both a real good clean out and see if you can clean the pins too.     I think the fuel caps will fit a number of cars as they were an outsourced part. Try searching for one for a rover 400 (96 to 2000) and see if that shows the same part number.

    Tough one to diagnose remotely mate, but sounds like there are a few faults (all electrical) that you've mentioned the car currently (excuse the pun!) has. 1st off check the connector to the alternator. It may be as simple as it needing cleaned out/pins cleaned. The spark plug arcing out is a big issue which may even be the cause. Try replacing the 4 plugs and fit new oem spark plug leads. What youre saying with it initially only happening at high revs ties in with the plug/leads that has that fault. The wires in the passenger door need checking out pronto. If they are busted/bare wires possibly touching that's going to cause the issue with your radio, but more important it could cause a fire. Needs fixing asap. The wire underneath the car I'm not sure on, we don't have any additional heaters in the cars over here in the UK so haven't heard of that before. But if there's a loose cable up where the loom enters the car, and it's the same connector as the one underneath, I would assume that needs connecting. It could be a previous owner has had something fitted in between the wires and removed it. Worth checking out. Finally, voltage regulator. It may be faulty although they don't tend to go very often. If none of the above solve the issue it may need to go to an auto electrician to see if they can diagnose it. Deffo fix those faults first though mate to eliminate them. Any one of those could be the cause.

    Ohhh, I've never seen those in the Rover. My best mate Jim had the Rover400 iS, the 2 litre one with the boot. Can't remember seeing them in that one, was a 99 model. Unless it was a factory option/only fitted to higher up models?

    If I remember rightly, the dome where the front interior light is is the sensor/receiver for the IR remote.

    Sorry to hear about your other MB, it hurts when your attached to a car and something bad happens to it. At least youre OK wilhich is the main thing. Love that Rover, always been a fan of Rovers (I used to help my brother in the garage he worked in/Co owned that repaired/broke/restored Rover SD1s). Always had a real soft spot for the R8, came close to buying a 216SLi in nightfire red metallic. Deffo is one of my most favourite colours on a car! That MB1 you've bought is a real rare gem! Finding any pre-facelift Civic M in good condition is like finding the proverbial hens teeth! Loving that one, same colour as my wee 1.4 MA8. I bought a drivers seat from an SR to us the base for my pass seat so it had height adjustment, same as drivers side. Had that same black/red pattern which I think looks funky as hell! Keep us updated mate with loads of pics of the Civic, and get a wee thread going for the Rover too. Both genuine modern classics now.

    Here's a quick video of the Daytime Running lights. Excuse the quality of the video, it was actually raining and recorded and edited on my phone lol. Goes from ignition on engine started, to sidelight on (which turns DRLs off) to headlights, back to sidelights the sidelights off (which turns drl's back on). The flickering just before they go on fully is caused by the camera. They don't actually flicker, they fade in to full brightness. InShot_20260701_200316165.mp4

    Think it's because of the side it enters the throttle linkage on mate. Chandler on here did the whole wire tuck on his Aerideck, might be worth having a look at his project thread. It was an epic deck that one!

    So, still not got the video done of the DRLs or the how to guide. Will try and get it done soon! I'm actually looking for better DRLs as I've noticed in daytime/really bright sun, they get totally washed out! Defeats the purpose! In other news, DD was shown at her first car show since Japfest2 2014 at Donnington race track. Took her to Honda Day Scotland 2026. Was a good turnout out of cars, photos are in our meets/shows section of the forum. Here's a couple of DD. Getting ready for the show the day before! Bath time! At the show. Bloody rained just as we headed out so she was dirty by the time we got there. Show was a good hour and 45 minute drive from her, and she drove spot on. Plan is to get her front spoiler and bonnet off and resprayed soon, hopefully before her next show (classic car show at Bo'Ness).

    The short answer is yes as anything can be done. If you have a welder, or know someone who can weld, it can be done. You will need the following: Full front slam panel/valance. Possibly the front crash bar as most likely slight differences. Headlights Bonnet Grill Front wings. The current pre-facelift slam panel will need the spot welds drilled out then cut/removed from car. The face-lift panel will then need offered up and aligned (probs best just tacking it into place to trial fit everything). Once your happy with alignment, you can then either get the spot welds redone or butt-weld the holes. Seam welds any bits that were seam welded before. If you can, get the plugs from the MB wiring just in case there's a difference (shouldn't be). Then it's just a case of bolting everything on. It's been done here in the forum on a few cars, including one our members changing the front end on his Rover 400 to the Civic MB front end so deffo can be done. Let us know how you get on and get plenty photos mate. Dave

    If it's the early Rover 400/MGZS (not the ugly fake Chinese one) the plugs and wiring should be the same. Post BMW take-over of Rover, the 400s etc had BMW wiring and connectors.
